Upgraded Power steering cooler.
 

So, few years back i hit a raccoon with my z and not only destroyed my bumper he bent my power steering cooler. fortunately it didn't leak! thank God. Anyways. Since i needed to get a new cooler, I wanted to do something cool, rather then replacing the cooler with an original piece, i wanted something with more "pop". I ended up finding this cool 7 row oil cooler for 20 bucks on ebay lol! over kill, i know, but it works and did the trick. Went to home depot bought an aluminum 4' L bracket, only size they had. Cut the shape i needed and bolted everything on. Went to napa bought 3/8 tranny cooler line. Bought some A/N fitting and gave it a professional assembly look. Reused the old squeeze clamps on the hard line and used gates shrinkable powergrip clamps on the A/N 90 degree fitting side. Worked like a charm. Cost just around 100 bucks for everything and you cant beat the look. 7 row might be overkill for my use, its my daily with a few 1/4 mile track times and sprinted driving, but it works. Out with the old and in with the new. If you guys need help i can make a parts list

Nice job, this may be overkill for you but I am thinking it might be good for some of the track guys

Congratulations and great job you did. For street duty a power steering cooler is over kill and not really needed. If your Z will see track duty then yes a power steering cooler is always recommended and will help you from taxing your power steering system.

Bringing this topic up from the dead instead of opening a new one....so, after a bit of track days with my Z, I observed my power steering fluid boiling in the reservoir. I believe it caused a slight leak on my steering rack as well, so that led me to wanting to install a servo oil cooler. I ordered this: https://www.driftshop.com/universal-...ooler-kit.html which seems to me like something that should suffice. I only just now went to see where and how I'd install it, and I see that our cars come with the power steering cooler (as in the pic above) - so I just wanted to check - is it enough just to replace this cooler one with the other? Or is there some additional work necessary? I thought I'd just drop the OEM cooler, drain the fluid, install the new one, fill it with the new fluid, add remainder of fluid and I guess that's it?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I have the Z1 power steering cooler. It's easy to install a cooler. Remove the oem one. Install the new one, and hook up the lines. I would only fill the reservoir to the add line. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel full left and full right a couple of times. Then check the reservoir again. Don't fill it pass the add line since you track. This keeps the fluid from overflowing out of the reservoir.
