Key light
I have searched but the many threads often times yielded results related to steering lock. Here is one where steering lock is not involved for sure.
I was driving when the key light turned on. I brought it home fearing that I would be stuck somewhere unable to start I tried to plug my key in while driving, didn't clear the light I tried my spare key that has no battery, didn't clear the light either. Both times I could start the car. The steering lock fuse was pulled a year ago so it cannot be that. Battery appears to be in good shape but will confirm with a volt meter later tonight. One thing I did notice was I couldn't get the car to lock with the button by the door, I had to hit the lock button on the remote. Even then it did not do the same beep beep sound when locked. Does anyone have any insight on this issue? |

Battery in fab may be going, could need changing just a guess. :hello:

1) Battery was low on water, I topped it up (lucky I had some deionized water around), first start that day worked perfectly. I noticed the light did return on my second start. 2) New remote battery is ordered, odd the last remote that died didn't cause this to occur, instead it just was looking for the key. 3) Mechanic friend of my suggest its the car battery itself, so if it isn't the remote battery then its likely a new battery. Does anyone have any other likely culprits? |
Its not the batter in your key fob.. like you, I pulled the fuse AND cut the wire on the steering lock.. my key light indicator has been on forever, Im not worried about it though.

Mine came on out of the blue a few years ago and the dealer could find nothing wrong, so I continued to drive it. A few weeks later, the car would not start at all and was very intermittent. After some diagnosing, I changed the switch on the clutch pedal and both problems went away completely...Don't know if you have the 6M or automatic however...

I have a 6M, The one suspect right now after some extensive research is that, i had a clutch master replaced (early version 1 RJM CMC failure, RJM very nicely supplied me a new one free), although RJM offered to install it for me too but alas it failed in the middle of the highway for me so i didn't think about it when it failed and just towed it to my mechanic. I noticed the clutch pedal had a slight dead spot after picking it up, was going to just drive it and see if its just a pressure issue. This never went away, also noticed the cruise would intermittently not work Anyways, the key light came on the day after, thinking it was everything else until today. Going to adjust the clutch switch later tonight and maybe the clutch rod as well to see if it would make a difference. Is there any way to test those clutch switches with a volt meter? |
