Turn Signal Noise
Hello,
I'm going in again after filing a complaint with the service center because when I use the turn signal and then slightly move the wheel you can hear a loud click noise. I did a 40k service and it was a really bad experience, got some other problems too. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vbba6jisxj...%2004.mp4?dl=0 They told me this is normal... that even other cars have the same at some extent. For me it shouldn't. Another noise I noticed, it's intermittent and comes from the hinge where the driver seat belt hangs on the left side. If I hold it with my hand, there is never a noise.. otherwise not always, I can hear a small noise. So what's your take on these? |
The turn signal clicking is probably the auto-canceller (the mechanism that turn the signal off after the turn). Every car I can remember owning made the noise - some louder than others.
The noise from the belt area may be something loose and rattling around. Strategically located pieces of foam may fix that. |
I did drove a lot of cars and not a single one had that noise. I'm not talking about the cancelling one.. that's ok, this one happens as soon as you turn the wheel on the direction of the turning light.

Watched the video several times and it still sounds like normal canceller noise to me but I no longer have a Z so can't run out to the garage to check. Maybe someone else will come up with something.

My car has the same clicking noise & it has been there since day one. Just wrote it off as being normal.

Sounds normal to me too. That is the sound of the cancelling mechanism, if not, it would make noise when you turned the wheel without activating the turn signal.
I'll bet if you placed a finger on the end of the turn signal stalk, you'll be able to "feel" the click when you turn the wheel. Maybe once it gets "worn in" the sound will diminish somewhat...Just my $.02 and maybe turn the radio up a little louder :) |
1. Normal click... 2. Movie parts in a car... 3. You drive a Nissan...

I do not have any seat belt noise either. My old 03 350Z had this issue since the belt just hung on the side without any positioning brackets or hinges on the seats like the 370. It rattled on the side of the door. I would check for loose hardware. This should be an easy cure most likely. |
