Automatic Headlights DRL Issue
First of all, I would like to say hello as I am a new forum member. I got my 2010 40th Anniversary Z two months ago.
I always keep my headlights in the "Auto" position, so a few weeks back I noticed that the driver side headlight did not go on. This is fixed by flicking the switch to Off and back to Auto again. This started to happen frequently, and mostly (only?) during the night time. If I do not fix this issue right away and I notice it after I have been driving with only the right headlight on, the only way to fix it is to restart the car. Stealership wants $130 for diagnostics. They mentioned it might be related to the DRL module. I did replace the stock bulbs for 6000k ones before the issue started, so my first thought was the ballast was loose, which it kind of was. Regardless, I made sure the ballast is 100% on and the issue still persists. Thoughts? Last edited by artem; 01-09-2017 at 04:37 PM. |

do some searching... I think I have read on here that our cars can be very temperamental with aftermarket bulbs. If you still have the stockers, put them in and see if the problem resolves.

OP I have same issue as you. Now and then my bulb will not turn on. I have fixed one side by replacing the firing cable. As soon as that side started to work flawlessly the other side acted up. Aftermarket HiDs work but are temperamental. Only way to avoid is to get OEM bulbs. Stealership is gonna charge you $130, say it's your bulb and make you put in OEMS |

Thanks guys! I'm personally not a fan of the 4300k stock bulbs(although mine still work); however, I do have some extra 6000k that came in a while back. I'm glad to hear that the overall consensus is the bulb issue and not a DRL module.
