Considering many people use the exact same fluid (Motul RBF600 in my case) for both the clutch fluid and brake fluid, I'm going to say that, in general, clutch fluid is also going to be hygroscopic, and your recommendation of limiting how often you open the reservoir is a quite appropriate. One should be able to determine the fluid color and level without opening the reservoir.
