Did my 60k maintnance for $615
Well just got my car back for a major tune up at 60k miles. Paid 615 otd (45 shop fee 50 tax) with everything listed on the sheet and added/upgraded to mobile 1 synthetic and added steering fluid change. I think the price wasn't too bad considering they changed the automatic transmission fluid with their Nissan "exclusive" tool. Plus I got a Altima rental for the day/night.

No tire rotation. I take my car to Discount tire for balance and side to side flip. I had them credit my tire rotation charge toward my power steering fluid change.
The print out is a generic service sheet special for all nissans at Universal Nissan |

What type of fuel system service was done? Or rather what/how did they service it?

I consulted a closer Nissan dealer near my residence and they had no clue how to change it. So unless your tech sound confident and can show/explain what they are going to do/did, I would skip it lol. I drove 40 miles out while there are 3 dealers within 10 miles Last edited by ssmoked; 08-08-2015 at 08:58 AM. |

I mean, technically an independent shop can acquire the 'tools' too and only use it once or twice per year. But for peace of mind, I would only take it to a Nissan dealer to do this particular fluid change. |

Do you even know what the "tools" are? Because there are no special tools required to change out the 7AT transmission fluid. That mechanic/dealer is just feeding you some Angus Prime Bull$hit. The AT fluid is susceptible to volume changes based on temperature, so you have to get the fluid to the proper temp when you check the fill level. The tools that can read the temp just plug into the OBD2 port. They can be pretty expensive, but they do far more than just help you change the transmission fluid. Pretty much any mechanic shop is going to already have something that does this. And $615 is outrageous for that list IMO. That dealer is pretty good though. It's their job to make you feel good about overpaying for service

Let's see OEM parts cost if bought by self: 2 air filter, cabin filter, 5-6 quarts Mobil 1 synthetic, oil filter, coolant, brake fluid, steering fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, radiator cap, t/body cleaner... 300-400$ (without 6 bottles of half used fluids cluttering my garage for 3 years). Proper disposal of those toxic fluids (hopefully you don't just throw it in regular trash)...$50. The tech should obviously work for free on a 370z and dealer should let you use their garage and "tools that plug into the OBD2 port" according to your estimate.... Taxes $40 (please educate me how to avoid that for the future). Rental car should be free too right? So mr. JARblue how much did I get ripped off for a major service and peace of mind? zoren 370- I went to universal Nissan. I had them check and show me before and after fluid colors of the brake, coolant, power steering fluids. Also there were fresh oil residue at the differential and transmission drain area when I checked/before I paid. I highly doubt they shorted me on anything, especially how anal I was |

they need the nissan consult to read the temps and insure it's not over or under filled. it's not really a diy oil change
