60K Mile Service

This is the run down I got from my local Nissan service department. I was surprised the 60K mile service was as low as $350 but I found out that it didn't include much. Does not include replacement of differential or transmission fluids, like I was expecting to have to do. You can see that they will "inspect" the fluids, among other parts of the car, but the service tech told me, depending on how the car is driven, you probably don't need those fluids replaced at 60K miles. Obviously, they'll call me in the middle of the job and tell me the car needs this and that but what do I need to expect to replace or service? (Brake components and fluids are brand new by the way.) Your thoughts? |
3 Gallons of coolant for a system that takes 1.5 G for a drain/fill? Wonder if they're doing this twice.
$9.95 for a $5 part that they'll probably reuse anyway.. Same for the radiator drain plug. If you have any mechanical ability, follow the DIY guides and do the work yourself. I'm surprised they're charging for the reusable radiator parts but not for a new radiator cap (recommended given age/mileage). |

You can do much better with pricing. I had 6 fluids changed plus random other things for 615$ otd |
Why do they need to change " life long coolant"? Lol shouldn't it be good forever?
|
To avoid future expensive cooling system repairs (radiator, heater core, etc), it's good to periodically change the 'long life' coolant. Google coolant electrolysis and aluminum radiators.
|
Nissan rates the life of the blue coolant at 120K miles. Any of their other coolant or a mixtures is rated at 80K miles.

Congrats!

Good on your for doing your 60k service.
