MAF / IAT Sensors going bad
Has anyone had issues with the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensors going bad? Specifically, related to the install of the K&N Typhoon short-ram intake?
I've gone through thee MAFs already with this intake, and am waiting on two more to arrive; though the intake is now back to stock. I've checked the wires between the MAF plug and the ECM...all are good. When checking the MAFs themselves, I'm getting an open between pins 1 and 2 (IAT sensor)...should be around 2 ohms. Just wondering if this has been an issue for anyone else, and if K&N has said anything about it; couldn't find anything in the "search" area about it. Thanks. |
I haven't noticed many posts about bad MAFs, but I don't see everything.
Since the wiring checks out, I suspect a vibration problem - MAFs tend to be shock-sensitive. |

I imagine it would throw error codes and warning light if they are bad?

had both my MAF's replaced 2 weeks ago with 28k on my z.
when I called stillen the guy said it could have been the k&n filter oil. sometimes they have to much oil on them out of the box. a few other ppl I have talked to also think it's from the k&n filter oil. now I have dry flows on my gen 3's so I guess will see if it happens again. |
Did the car throw error codes for the faulty MAF's? What were the symptoms on your car?
Have you tried cleaning them first? Quote:
