2014 Nismo clutch replacement already :/
Hello,
I wanted to ask the forum about my clutch issue. I have a 2014 Nismo with 17500 miles on her. I noticed my clutch was slipping . Took the Z to dealer and was told the clutch was worn and needed to be replaced. I don't ride the Z hard and I don't ride the clutch. For the clutch to need to be replaced seems odd to me. They quoted me 1952.00 to replace the clutch or 3000.00 if I also needed a new fly wheel . If I put the Z in 3rd and let go of the clutch it stalls . I don't think the clutch could be that bad that it needs all this work . Looking for your guys opinion. Thanks |

Ridiculous...again NISSAN should be ashamed of themselves for not covering under warranty.

I had my clutch, lightweight flywheel, CSC and master cylinder replaced at ZSpeedPerformance and it was less than the $1952 that your dealer quoted you. Not to mention that the install was quick and perfect.
Joe asked my if mine had been slipping because the fine Nissan flywheel that is supposed to "float" was seized up. If they didn't take it out of the car, they have absolutely no way of knowing if it's worn or not. Either way, it's too frickin' much money for their noisy-arse clutch. Check your fluid level if you haven't. If the clutch really is toast, which I don't believe it is, go see Joe. About a five hour trip for you. . Last edited by TreeSemdyZee; 05-26-2015 at 09:51 PM. |

This is the kit that I bought. Added the Motul fluid, stainless steel line and Quiet Disk.

Well, Just got off the phone with Nissan USA and they told me that the clutch was NOT covered under warranty at any mileage and they are sorry that my car needs a new one. I will spend the 2000.00 and get me a non OEM clutch and be done with it . Just wanted to share my story. Hope no one has to have this happen to them .

Not to be harsh but... if your clutch is truly worn at 17,5000 then you need to exam how you drive. Do you half clutch? Pop the clutch to launch? Use the clutch to gradually slow down? Do you keep the car in gear when waiting for a light?
Clutches are designed to take a lot of abuse, but they are not fail proof. |

Before you buy a new clutch, I'd suggest bleeding the system just in case. I went through shuddering and slipping over the last few years and it held up fine. Tried to do a burnout one time and really scored the clutch. It would shake like crap when I'd start up, but cleared up after a few weeks.
Replaced it at about 77,000 miles and it still wasn't shot. Flywheel was frozen, but the clutch wasn't completely gone. |

It's considered a wear item, like brake pads and air filters. Still, I think with so little mileage it might be considered defective in materials or workmanship and in all fairness should be replaced by Nissan.
Let's all hold our breath...

I love MTs (All I drive) but Nissan is really changing my perspective about Manual Transmissions and their inability to cover these obvious things under their shitty warranty.

No manufacturer covers wear items.

Clutches are normally warrantied for 12months/12,000 miles unless they have been abused. That is what they were when I was a Nissan Tech. Never had one that needed a repair at that mileage though.
