NAV update ripoff??
Hey guys-
First post. I was wondering if there were alternative ways of getting the nav updates? The pricing seems ridiculous for an update on a 42000 dollar car. Can anyone illuminate other ways of obtaining the update? thanks Vicious |
I paid for it last year in my 09. Still sucks and not better than my phone/Google/waze provides.

Thanks. It's looking like it's not even worth it from what I can tell.
|
Not worth it IMO. I haven't updated my '12 yet and don't plan on doing so. I use google maps if I need directions. Maybe if you traveled a lot in new areas it would make sense to get the updates. However for 99% of my driving whatever update they put on the '12 models is still sufficient.

Not worth it. I have my stock Nav and I end up using Google Maps most of the time. lol

yah, i use a nuvi with life time maps. also has OBD2 gauges when i dont need the maps.
i dont think the dealer update is worth it. |
i looked into this once. it was too much work and might not have even worked. think i was going to download a renault dvd and try and update but can't remember exactly. still you need a consult i think

Nav option in a sports car not worth it in my opinion.
|
I think people often opt for the nav option because a) the touch screen is nice and ups the interior presence and b) it looks f*ing sweet. The maps are rubbish, unless just being used to navigate your way out of a parking lot...

I won't update mine... It does allow you to change a lot of settings on the car that you can't without it (not any way I know of, anyway) and it's neat when playing MP3's off of a thumb drive but as a navigation system I'd rather use my phone.

true, plus the rear view camera if the car came with it as it should.
