2014 Nismo with possible Synchro Rev issues in 5th gear
I bought my 2014 Nismo yesterday and I think Im experiencing an issue with the SRM in regards to 5th gear. Whenever I upshift from 4th to 5th the SRM revs the throttle to the point where it's a little too much rev for up shifting into 5th. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. I even thought I might be shifting too slow into 5th from 4th but the SRM will still rev the throttle if I upshift fast. No other gears do this when upshifting.
With SRM off there are no issues. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Here is a video with the upshift into 5th and the SRM blipping the throttle 500rpm and then drops back down because it wasn't necessary Last edited by Rahul718; 02-03-2015 at 08:49 PM. |

What is "a little too much?" A small blip on your tach? 100rpm?
Sounds like you're letting it sit in Neutral for too long. Anytime you pause between gears SRM preps at a nice "halfway" point since it doesn't know if you're going up or down. A nice, smooth motion keeps it in check. From my understanding, if SRM has a true issue, you will see it either 1. All the time in every gear change, or 2. Never, because it will just not function. |

syncro rev match I've read that SRM will make the rpm hang for an upshift but it seems like it'll hang and then rev an additional 200-300 rpm or so |

Thats about on par with my experience. Over the months ive had to teach myself to stop thinking about it and just shift/clutch like normal.
At first i tried to shift "with" it if you know what i mean, but all l i seemed to do was confuse it, lol. Get into "oh my god this idiot is about to hit the 3 cars in front of me!!" mode, and see what i mean. It's flawless when you're driving by instinct. It is fun to brake to a stop with the clutch down and use it to blip the throttle tho |

Now I noticed on my way home that sometimes even with a super slow upshift from 4th to 5th it WONT blip the throttle. Then sometimes when I upshift fast from 4th to 5th it'll still rev up an additional 500rpm

So you also get the additonal SRM blip in your 4th to 5th shift occasionally even if you believe that you shifted fast and normal? Do your other gears do it too? What's weird is for me it seems to happen only in the 4th to 5th upshift and no other gears |

I used SRM for about a week when I bought the car and haven't used it for years. I always would heel and toe myself and couldn't get out of the habit. Talk about confusing SRM when we were both trying to match revs.

i think its more of throttle response with driving habits.
synchrorev does not take account to you leaviing your foot on the pedal when you shift. revs jump when you're in neutral clutching in so... self explanatory |

It should be extremely consistent. I'm going to guess that you are probably the one who's inconsistent. If SRM is not consistently applying the same revs at the same gear and speed, then there is something wrong with it.

this sounds more like you might be missing ever so slightly on the upshift and hit the mark the trigger point on the 3rd gear on the way to 5th if you can understand what i mean.

Make sure you are not hitting the gate for 3rd gear as you are making your 4th to 5th shift. This would trigger a pretty rowdy rev upwards of 5K depending on your speed at the time.

Appreciate everyone's feedback. I've been driving stick for over 10 years so a part of me doesn't want to believe my shifting could be sloppy, but I'll be mindful of this and make very deliberate shifts now and report back.
Thanks again |

Found this post also with the same experience as mind in regards to the 4th-5th up shift
RPM jump when upshifting It might just be that I'm unknowingly getting close to 3rd on my way to 5th. Let's see... |
