Dont stop on neutral when shifting to fifth shift it smoothly sliding to the right towards 5th. If you stop to neutral the SRM thinks your downshifting to 3rd.
|
Here's a video... This is clearly an Upshift into 5th with the SRM blipping the revs about 500rpm from 4k to 4500 and I feel it was a clean shift. WTF is up with this car?
It's at 14 seconds http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps1cwurxqo.mp4 |
I noticed it really only happens at higher rpm, over 4k. I'm dropping the car off at the dealer tomorrow
|
That does seem odd. I would definitely have the dealer check that out. GL :tiphat:
|
So ticked off... I stretched my budget to get this car and it's having issues already. My fear is I'll take it to a dealer and they won't be able to replicate the issue. I don't even feel like driving the car now...
|
just turn it off. honestly if yyou've been driving manual for over 10 years you dont really need a computer to get you a rev match down shifting or rev matching up shifting. its all driving habits.

Not enough information in that video to tell you what the problem is, but i have to ask.. Are you 100% sure you aren't leaving your foot ever so slightly on the gas even just a millisecond after you press the clutch pedal? You might be clutching just a little too soon. Our throttle is extremely sensitive and in true Nissan fashion it isn't a 1:1 ratio between pedal travel:throttle, at least for the first bit of pedal travel.
Or, your clutch sensor (just a button behind the pedal that sends either a Yes or No signal back to the ecu, doesn't measure clutch pedal position) might be picking up the second you put any amount of pressure on the clutch. Or, you could be triggering 3rd temporarily as previously posted. Of course, there's no way for us to know if it's user error or if maybe your shift linkage and/or gear sensor are slightly out of alignment. Let us know what the dealer says, and try to be patient. If you could only imagine the amount of work our cars do behind the scenes, you might be less irritated at one small hiccup and more awestruck at just how much functions properly and how many data calculations per second go into so many seemingly simple act of our daily lives. PS. I think these are boobs. :icon23: have a nice day. |
I beat you are getting close to 3rd and it thinks you are trying to downshift. I will hit it every now and then if I get sloppy. If you heal/toe it with it off, it is not an issue. It's just something to get used to. I still catch myself heal/toeing it with synchro rev match on. Oops. It doesn't affect it though. Funny how that is.

Thanks for the replies. So I did a test with with keeping a close eye on my shifts
- as soon as I got out of 4th and I moved the shifter up, very careful not to touch the gate of 3rd, and all the way to the right and up to 5th. Did this 20 times and it didn't happen once. I found that it's VERY VERY sensitive when I'm higher in the rpm compared to below 3k. Sensitive as in, I need to be extra careful when shifting at 4-5k RPM to absolutely not at all get anywhere near 3rd when I'm shifting up to 5th. This sensitivity isn't there below 4k. - but today it happened again even when I thought I was being careful...so it's just weird - if something is wrong with SRM wouldn't it affect all the gear gates and not just the 4-5 gear gate? I just think the 4-5 gear change is more sensitive than other upshift combos, as in, it'll rev to 3rd even when you THINK you had a clean shift. Anyone else feel the same? I know everyone's prob tired of this thread by now and my bitching but I appreciate everyone chiming in |
Happened again twice this morning with me being careful. Since tomorrow is Saturday I'm going to try to take a test drive with a Nissan tech. My only worry is the few places I called up aren't too familiar with the SRM systems.
I just feel that I'm concentrating and putting in way too much thought for a simple upshift. I don't think that's nor mal. Is ye 4-5 upshift that sensitive with srm on? |
Nothing like that has ever happened to me with SRM. I think something is confusing SRM somehow. I also don't think you are accidentally hitting the 3rd gear gate per your video. If you had hit the 3rd gear gate after being at 4K RPMs in 4th, I would expect SRM to be rev matching around 5500 RPMs, not just an extra 500 RPMs at 4500 or so.
Definitely take it to a dealer. Make them take you out to test drive other cars if they say it's normal. It's not. You have a brand new Nismo, right? No mods yet? |

Do you think this is a transmission issue or electronic? With SRM off, no issues at all. Is there any kind of SRM reset I can do on my own for the time being? Can I have a list of all sorts of issues it could possibly be? I can run this by the dealership, just because they're not too familiar with the SRM |

What I don't understand is why the 4-5 upshift occasionally and not the 2-3 upshift which is essentially the same positional upshift? Does each gate have it's own sensor?
