Question for owners who had their top replaced
Question for the owners who had their top replaced - have you been told to leave your top closed for a week and park it in the sun or did the dealership simply give the car back to you?
Reason I ask is I just had my entire top (fabrics, frame, etc) replaced under warranty and they asked me to keep it closed and park in the sun for a week. I'm wondering if the dealership's request is simply standard operating practice or maybe a too tight top exhibiting the issue of not closing all the way and needing help to come down the last bit. |
I was asked to leave it closed for at least two weeks (wet & park in the sun) as much as possible so it would stretch and give you a better fit.
Although I followed these instructions my top still is not a perfect fit on the driver side and all they could tell me is they can try another one :shakes head: |
@blueranger - what do you mean by not a perfect fit? Does it not come down by itself, or is there some other issue with how it fits?

I had my top replaced the week after I got the car, with less than 100 miles on it. Had to leave it closed for two weeks. Fit is perfect.

Kinda hard to leave it in the sun up here when you may not see it for weeks. I was told to use my top as per normal when it was replaced. I did. Been replaced for two years now and no problems. If there are problems with the top after it's replaced then the dealership didn't do it right.
