Fed up w/ my roadster!
Considering really hard about trading in the roadster for a brand new coupe. I can't believe it either, but I've had my top replaced twice and it's more maintenance than anything. Gonna have to put it back to stock then take the new Z back and place all my parts on her. It sucks, i know, but a man can only take so much of having to deal with top issues. Holes in the head liner, cargo hatch hitting the top, top not wanting to go down, weather stripping not lining up perfectly. Trust me I baby the heck out of her. Anyone else feel the same?

No, actually I'm quite the opposite. I'm tickled pink with mine, and I'm on my second. No mechanical problems whatsoever with the first. Of course if I'd had problems I might feel differently.
Perhaps a trade to a different Roadster? '10 was the first year, wasn't it? Maybe they had issues that have been ironed out since?

Helpful post of the day :P
You sound like the exception. There have been some top problems and I agree that its a complicated top that you don't want replaced if you can avoid it. Good experiences seem to align with good top places. Those that are meh, fitment issues. I take it this has been under warranty? I would document all issues and work with nissan regionally. The warranty is with them, not the dealership so any good will, escalation etc...is a process. Sure a dealer SM can go to bat for you. I have the common pinch point (behind drivers window) that I can't track down but it has not rubbed any hole. I've had it since 2000 miles (when I got it, second owner). Now at 32K. Nothing but regular maintenance and the streeting lock TSB to date. - b |

I'm happy with my '10. Had the top replaced and it was a good job done by the dealer. No other issues other than an alignment was required to correct tire wear.

Whatever problems I ever had just goes away when the top is down and the road clears up. Closes thing to motorcycling....just more comfortable. Either you are a Roadster guy or you're not. Maybe a coupe is for you

My wife sold her Harley to get the open air feeling in a roadster as you describe. Although not quite the same as a bike it has more advantages e.g. staying dry in wet weather and listening to tunes.

My 350Z was a roadster and problems/concerns about the top was one of the biggest reasons I traded. I love the coupe and the 370z so much better.
That 350Z would turn heads and get the thumbs up from other people when the top was down. Not a tough decision though when maintenance costs start digging in your pocket.

You may get lucky and get a new roadster if it continues. I would probably start working on the dealer now.
Don't think I could get rid of the roadster for a coupe. I'm not claustrophobic, but don't like being trapped inside a sports car. Also, I'm not allowed to have a motorcycle so it's the next best thing. |

I also have a 2010 with one top replaced a year ago. The driver side window still hits the corner but not enough to do it over again.
One thing I can tell you is driving with the top down makes all the stress go away! I would not trade my roadster for a coupe... You have the best of both worlds When a group of us go on a mountain run (all sports cars) all of my buddies say I wish mine was a convertible or ask if they can drive my car

No significant problems with my '10. Had my top replaced under the TSB a year ago for the window rub, still looks brand-new. Started using Ragg-Topp and water beads like crazy.
