passenger window catching on top
Anyone else notice this, open door and the 1/4 drop the window does automaticly does not clear the weather strip on the top?
Took mine to the dealer to have it checked and there telling me its normal operation. . Drivers side is fine and clears but the passenger side hangs. |

Did the dealer take the door apart and physically adjust the window, or did he do it with the window raise/lower button?
I live where the world freezes this time of year. Every now and then the window freezes and won't lower that small amount when I open the door. When that happens I have to strike the top edge of the window downward with the heels of my hands to cause the window to break loose and lower as it needs to. Occasionally the window gets a bit confused and I have to reset that adjustment. Here's a link to how to do that (bottom of the post) in case you ever need it.

They made an actual physical adjustment to the window frame. There is a slight up and down adjustment as well as a little tilt adjustment available. In your situation I would de-ice the lower portion of the window where it enters the door first. Striking the window will eventually break the cheap plastic rollers the regulator cable rolls on, or strip the gears.

Honestly - since I've had my car and did all the research - 90% of the time when parked or even in occasional light driving, I just slightly lower the windows. That way I never have to worry about the actuators working correctly or not.
I had my top replaced the second day of ownership - and both actuators replaced and windows adjusted. I've tried to make sense of it - but they are never 100% consistent. So that's my work around. |

I've been looking for something to prevent the icing. I'm avoiding conventional deicers, since most of them seem to be based on chemicals I'm not sure I want to put on my car. I read one suggestion that I like. RainX is, I believe, silicone based. I use it to treat my windshield, and when used carefully (I don't like to get it on the paint) it works well. I intend to try spraying RainX on the window immediately above the seal and running the window up and down a few times.

Mix 1 part water and 3 parts vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the Windows and mirrors before the ice sets. This will prevent ice from sticking.
A great deicer is 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol with a few drops of liquid dish soap. None of this will hurt the paint |
