squeaks and rattles
I have a 2012 roadster and with the top up I hear the most annoying rattling and squeaking coming from what sounds like the passenger side rear of the car. I checked all the hinges and and joints I could see with the top partially up and relubricated everything in sight but it still continues. I know its the top because when I have the top down everything is quiet. I had a 2007 roadster for three years and never heard a sound. Is there anything I may have missed? Do warranties cover these things? Any input is appreciated. Gene

I would just remove the door and throw some sound deadener in there.. Check my build thread.
The rattles are bound to happen unfortunately.. The coupe is just as loud. Rattles on the back hatch near the window and rattles in the doors.. I used a $20 sound deadening product and it took some of the rattles away.

If it bothers you, and it must, then go with DE's suggestion. Take it in and take a mechanic for a ride. Make it squeak/rattle and let the mechanic hear it.
FWIW, and under the circumstances that really isn't much, mine has no such issue I am able to notice. It is a roadster, so it's somewhat noisier than a coupe would be. I do run Deep Tracks at around half volume with the top up. And I'm not a spring chicken, so my hearing must have suffered some. So, it may be making noise and I am just unable to notice. Back to the beginning: If it's enough to bother you, and it must be, have it checked out.

when i first put coilovers on my roadster, i had a really bad annoying metallic squeak noise coming from the back as well. I had to take it in the dealer a couple times before they figured out what was wrong with it. They never really told me exactly what bolt they had to tighten to get it to stop but they fixed it for me! So take it to the dealer!

I have a rattle/click over my left ear when driving. It just started now that it's gotten colder. Will try silicone soon...on almost everything in there....

Sometimes having the cure is worst than the disease when the dr. is incompetent. I had some stuff done and it ended up being worst than when I got back. I have a rattle that started when I went in for window adjustment. 3 attempts later, still there. fixed it with sound deadening and diligent placement of the wiring.

Update
Bought a tube of white lithium grease and applied liberally to every spring, joint, metal to metal, plastic to metal and saw significant reduction in squeak and chattering. Not completely gone but more tolerable. Turning up the radio eliminates everthing

OP, I had a terrible squeak in my 2010 that I bought used and lived with a terrible squeak that sounds exactly like you describe since I had no confidence the dealer could fix it.
After living with it for a year I finally took it in and complained under warranty. They had to order something and I had to bring it back, but it is totally fixed. (note that it still have the various noises I learned to expect from the three convertibles I've owned previously). The atrocious squeak is gone. Wish I had specifics of what they did, but the invoice for the repair doesn't show what they did and I didn't question them deeply on what they did. Base case, a decent dealer can fix nagging squeaks. To be honest, I didn't think it was going to be fixed when I drove off, but it was gone and has been gone for over three months. |

I had a squeak in my coupe - it was something to do with the seat belt (passenger) not sure if that helps - vaguely remember. (Seatbelt or adjuster etc)

I opened my top about a foot, then checked for any loose wires/rattles. I used a few electrical ties to tie down anything that seemed to be loose/rattling. I also wiped down all the contact surfaces on the contact surfaces of the top and the top of the windshield with silicone spray. That made a big difference, although you have to repeat every few months. Quick and easy fix, though - it lubricates the top locking mechanism on both sides and spots where there's a rub between the two surfaces.

I was at the dealer today and asked what they had adjusted to fix my squeak that I mentioned above. It was one of two bumpers shown in the attached pictures.

on mine it was loose screws... my culprit was the scew under the flap in between the door handle and the head rest it holds a spring tight... seems that the screw has widened the hole it was drilled into do to the spring pulling on it... this happened on both sides... i changed the screw and most of the rattling went away.
