H&R Vert Springs

Almost finished. Elongating the toe bolt hole destroyed my bit. Going to have to buy another so I can finish.

only toes bolts or a camber kit w/ toe bolts...??

Toe bolts and camber arms for the rear. UCA for the front. I'm finished except that I destroyed the threads on the pinch bolt that connects the spindle to the UCA. Hopefully have it aligned by monday. Nissan Parts people are idiots and ********.

quick rant: so the bolt was special order since they don't carry it in stock, no problem. Trying to get them to find the part number, they (nissan) are worthless. They tried for several minutes to get me to buy the whole spindle since they "just don't sell that part alone," had some choice words. Ended up finding the part number myself and had it shipped to the dealer. Picked it up today, installed, lowering complete. alignment tomorrow. FYI, spindles run 500+

I'll post pics tomorrow after the alignment. Did a quick measurement this evening, front dropped about 1-1.25 and the rear 1.5. The front is spot on, the rear I might lower further but going to wait until it settles.

Off topic: It feels good again to work on a Nissan. Just came from two BMWs, they aren't the easiest to work on. Most times you will spend more time removing plastic and parts to get to the actual part than repairing/replacing it.

Interesting.. H&R claims 1.3 front and only 1.0 at the rear which makes sense I guess as there's a slightly larger gap at the front. One question, how are you going to drop the rear even further??

Glad to hear that you did this yourself and other than the mix-up at Nissan (doesn't surprise me...) you were able to do all the work yourself.. nice! Most people on this forum don't play with the front camber but obviously you found it necessary. Do you think this may be because of the cost of the front kit?

Got it aligned, no problems. Overall, I am pretty happy with it. The ride is definitely stiffer, which was to be expected. Remeasured the drop, I was off earlier

Before drop (from ground to top of wheel arch):
Front: 27.5"
Rear: 28"

After drop:
Front: 26.25"
Rear: 27"

Now I just need sway bars, exhaust, wheels & tires, and a tune. Those will have to wait.

Yea I measured wrong. In terms of the rear, I am going to leave it for now and see how much it settles. If I do chop, it'll be about .25" of the mount.

I try to do all of my car work. I really don't trust anyone with my vehicles. The front camber needed to be done for proper wear and the whole "stance" look, in my opinion looks horrible. A lot of people don't do the UCA because of cost, front arms costed around 380. Very easy to install (remove strut, disconnect spindle, remove two bolts). I didn't get 0 toe like I was hoping in the rear, maxed out the bolts. If I go lower, I'll have to do rear toe arms. If you have questions, let me know.

Looks great! Do you have spacers? When I lowered my G37xS coupe I put spacers all around. Looked even better.
You mention that you maxed out the toe bolts in the rear and still didn't achieve what you wanted. Are they in spec tho??

Everything is in spec so I won't have to worry about that. Not going the spacers route. As soon as the tires are done, I'm going to upgrade the wheels and make sure it has the proper offset.

Too low for my taste but it does look really good. Since your title has vert instead of roadster I never found it with a search until you linked it in another thread.

I tried to get more info from H&R but she just repeated the same sentence over and over for every different question. I understood they wouldn't reveal the rates but they could have told me why they have a Roadster specific model. I have to assume they are stiffer.

Since H&R was too low and would answer a single question, I went with Swift. I'm not sure if i'm going to put the stock springs back on after I test it with the Bilstein's but I definitely don't want to spend crazy money or hours of modification for a proper alignment.

Now i'm wondering of the Nismo kit wouldn't have been the perfect choice for me. It's not roadster/vert specific but it's stiffer with a drop that won't affect alignment and I could still clear parking lot stops, speed bumps and dips.

The main purpose of vert specific springs is to ensure that handling maintained or increased. Verts have a different weight distribution than coupes, we are a little heavier in the back. Due to this, a different ratio between the front springs and rear springs is needed to keep handling optimum.
