What do you think of this red top?
I'm considering this car in Texas right now but after looking at pictures of this red top...I'm hesitating because it appears stained/dirty to me... What do you guys think.. Is this something that would wash out? The dealer claims that the top was wet and its been "dusty and uncleared" but I'm 1000 miles away so I want to be sure before I take the dive.

I think whoever decided to put a red/maroon top on a silver car should be put through water boarding

I'm just saying my personal opinion is its hideous. And I agree it does look stained but if you are interested in it, go see it in person. Could just be bad pictures.

Oops didn't see the distance. Find something local. Even if you need to wait. Winter is coming and that's the best time to find deals on rwd and verts

Haha thanks for the input. I personally like the wine and silver or wine/black cherry look. I have it down to a pretty reasonable price but still iffy about the top...not sure and distance is a killer...

Yea man I don't think I could ever buy a car without physically being able to give it a super look over. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If its a color combo/option combo you want you may have a hard time finding it closer. Not a lot of these cars were made to begin with. Example: I believe based on VIN DB, about 7 of my roadsters exist.
The red is a personal decision (more wine colored really, not red): similar to those who like persimmon interiors its subjective (me, I dislike it in most colors...so I have gray If its what you like, the price is right, then consider a quick $200 flight to inspect it and work out the details. Perhaps you can wiggle the price down another 100+ to help defer that cost, then drive it home. Small price to pay on a 30K purchase of something you are going to keep. This isn't a 5K beater. - b |

If that's the color combo you're looking for then go for it.
I had to have white w/black top and interior...sport and manual. Got lucky and found that exact car and haven't regretted it since. |

If the dealership thinks your serious buyer, the better dealerships would offer to fly you down to look at it. When I was shopping for my "Z" I was also looking at porsche's and found one for ~$40,000 in vegas and the dealership offered to fly me in to take a serious look at it. Would be ~$500 for a round trip flight from here, small price for a dealer that wants to move a car fast.
Side note on a wine top I always hated that color but personal perference on it. If you like it and it's a good deal go for it. And if your dead serious on going there to buy it i would make the dealer cough up the cost to get there.... Last edited by TripleBlkZ; 08-03-2013 at 03:54 PM. |

Porsche might have because it's Porsche, even if it was on a Gayman. You pay for service.
