After-market exhaust on the Roadster?

Anyone out there add an after market exhaust to their Roadster ( Greddy, Nismo, Tanube, FI, etc)? I have been very torn........ the Roadster is so classy. I would never want to de-class it in any way. Let's post our thoughts or experiences with exhausts if there are any.

Did the NISMO S-Tune on my Roadster but it was too quiet for me. Recently installed the F.I. 12" and the sound is perfect for me. Sounds even better when the top is down. :tiphat:

I have the OEM Nismo exhaust on mine and love it. I had the Invedia Gemini and it was too loud for me.

Good luck with your search!

Highway 04-02-2012 09:27 PM

I thought about this to before I put my Berk on, but I'm loving it. It's quiet when I'm driving normal around town or on the highway, but gets loud once you get on it. And the Berk loud isn't really loud, but enough to make you realized you're driving a sports car.

Kirkster 04-03-2012 07:46 PM

I have a Nismo, but I can't hear it over the SC so I will just stick with it as the supercharger sounds bad A$$

bvl 04-03-2012 07:51 PM

OEM NISMO on my roadster. Nice burble over stock but its still a tad understated for my tastes: I want to hear my sports car without it being a fart pipe/annoyance. Fine line sometimes.

Without being overpowering Id prob have to say Berk, Stillen or possibly the Indivia.

BVL, consider throwing some HFC's on your roadster, they will most surely open up the sound of the Nismo CBE

cujo 04-06-2012 01:47 AM

I would have to say that I'm very happy with the sound and look of my FI:)

IDZRVIT 04-06-2012 07:43 AM

I have the 5Zigen. In a word - awesome!

:iagree: well said!

I have the Invidia Gemini exhaust w/ cnt racing HFC and I love the sound it produces. I was a little worried at first that I might get some rasp, but after I installed it, I have enjoyed every second of driving.

RandyD 07-10-2012 06:15 AM

I have AAM Competition Ti-tip short tails and Stillen G3s

super-sweet.

Just installed Stillen CBE and HFC's on my friends roadster this last weekend. Sounds very nice indeed.

That would be my beastie and the sound is fantastic in a roadster!

zakimak 07-13-2012 09:00 AM

Greddy Ti-C...Very nice, hardly more noticeable at idle, deep rumble between idle and 3K and growls when pass 3k. No drone and no rasps. Very nice

OEM Nismo with Berk HFC. Had OEM Nismo first but it was almost no difference over the stock. Wife said it was almost quieter than stock. The HFC made a difference. It is not loud, silent on the freeway (the road noise is louder and wind noise even louder if you have the top down). It sounds deep around town and pretty quiet in the higher RPMs. No trouble with the police (4 cops living on my street). Good combo but thinking about getting FI with 18" resonator. Anyone has that combo on a roadster?

I have FI with 18" resonators and love it.

Is it loud? I know it is a subjective term but are you able to hear it driving down the freeway (drone)? How about when the top is down?

I just got mine... I got used to the sound and now it's pretty good. It sounds deep when you step on it during low RPM, but quiet just crusin around. I think my ECU is still adjusting because the Synchro Rev Match is acting kinda weird, but I do like the roar when it's doing it's thing though...

Bringing back the dead. Any chance you could do a sound clip from within your roadster? Thinking of going this route. Thanks in advance

I have the same setup.

koeppelnissan 10-15-2013 08:08 PM

We had a customer install a Meistershaft (spelling?) on their Roadster and damn that thing is loud!!!!!

MadChemist 10-18-2013 06:07 AM

For those who have the FI exhaust, do you have the 12" or 18" resonators?

What is the typical cost of installation for new exhaust at your shop?

These exhaust are very easy to swap out. I don't think mine took more than 45 minutes and I was in no rush. Just required a big breaker bar on a couple of the nuts, but nothing too horrible.

This would be a nice choice at a very cheap yet quality exhaust.

1-2 hours of labor at $108 per hour

MadChemist 10-19-2013 05:38 PM

Almost bought a FI w/18" resonators but decided it was too loud for my taste. Which exhaust are a little quieter than FI?

Highway 10-19-2013 07:21 PM

I'm still really happy with the Berk. It's not really noticeable while cruising or on the highway, but it comes alive as soon as you push it. It does make me speed up a little faster than I normally would just so I can hear that sound...especially with the top down.

The only downside to the exhaust is that it weighs just about the same as the stock exhaust. I was hoping it would be a little weight savings.

Here's a vid I shot last year with a GoPro so it's slightly distorted but gives you and idea of what it's like right at the tips.

Thanks for the vid clip. Sound pretty good. Came across Injen exhaust and was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with it.

If the 18" FI is too loud you should get a used Nismo or stay stock. Every aftermarket exhaust I've heard is louder than the FI. You could also add HFCs to either to increase loudness some.

Meisterschaft GTHaus!!! Check out my other posts under roadster for sound clips. If u want it installed cheap, best thing is get with some friends and take em out for beers after they do the work for u.

I wish there was more Injen exhaust reviews, definitely considering it but it is turning out to be very rare. Had an Injen exhaust on my 350z. Loved it except for the drone at 2k in 5th. Anyone what to gamble? Donation, and I'll buy, review, post, and make the world a better place?

Stillen

Just picked up the stillen, I haven't had a chance to really test it,, raining the next few days. But on the short ride home from the installer I could immediately hear and feel a difference. No unwanted sounds at all. I had been contemplation which system I wanted and I can't be more happier.

RoadsterST 04-28-2014 11:03 PM

I did the TopSpeed TI look catbacks with ART pipes. It is not bad below 3k rpm but will wake the dead with your foot down.. I Love It!!

I have had numerous people ask what brand at the lights and constantly get thumbs up.
