Does the extended warranty cover the roadster TOP.

This is specific to the the roadsters. I'm considering buying a 2010 roadster and the factory warranty is about to end. Has anyone purchased the extended warranty? If so, does

If so, does it cover the top and the motors that move the top? I know the 350z roadsters had issues with the motors needing replacement after some years.

Some do and some don't. The Gold and Gold Preferred cover all the top related parts. Just confirm that the warranty you choose has those listed as covered.

Just spoke to Nissan North America and they couldn't verify that the TOP (cloth material) was covered under the Security+Plus Gold Preferred warranty. They didn't say it wasn't covered but they couldn't find it on there listing, which pretty much means your out of luck. Most everything else was covered to include the folding top motors. If someone knows for a fact whether the top is covered under any Nissan warranty outside the 3 years, let me know.

Default Extended warranty and vert top

Resurrecting old thread.....

I was wondering if anybody had insight into the Nissan extended warranties and the convertible top. The above thread didn't seem to be conclusive. I dug through the Warranty section of the forum and came across the attached document:

Nissan Security+Plus | Compare Nissan Coverage | and click on Sample agreement towards bottom of page. (file attached as well. Yes, it is a 2012 version)

It expressly excludes the top fabric and liner (Section 8.2).

What has been the experience of others and any thoughts to share? My top is starting to exhibit similar issues as others and I was thinking of buying the extended warranty for peace of mind, but now starting to wonder.

My car is new so I'm not worried yet. But if I decide to keep it i will want a longer coverage. I'm surprised the fabric is not covered - but i would guess that is the least expensive part of the top.

And are the tops installed as an entire unit? Anyway...as long as the mechanics are covered I would be ok with it.

I had the extended warranty on my 350z roadster. I don't remember which plan i had, but it only covered the motors and the mechanics for the top, not the fabric. I had tears in the same spot on both sides of the top, right behind the side windows, and they would not cover it. I believe the motors are more expensive then the fabric. It's not installed as an entire unit, they use the existing frame and motors with the new fabric.

Default Nissan Policies

It is sad. In my limited experience with trying to get answers or facts from Nissan USA, they are vague. Like CYA and don't answer the question. I am real happy with the quality of the Z but not with "them" !

Top mechanisms are. Fabric is not. However this is where a good relationship with a dealer is key along with having the warranty. At 3k miles my top showed wear marks. I had them make a record and was told if it wore through they would go to bat for me.

Of course a new service manager can go in the opposite direction but me using them for maintenance establishes a history etc. it's why I don't change my own oil even if its trivial.

Default Any advise on a top for 370z

I have a 2010 370z convertible. 18 months ago, still under warranty, the hydrolics failed. My local dealer fixed the hydrolics free of charge under warranty. The car has not stopped squeecking/rattling ever since they fixed the top. But I put up with it.

6 months ago, I bought the super gold+ warranty when the car was still under 3 years/36k thinking I don't want any headaches with the soft top.

Last week, as I closed the soft top, a tiny piece of metal broke off from the roof frame. It looks like a hinge. I took it to the dealer thinking it is covered.
I honestly don't think they have a clue. After 3 days and me chasing them: they had the cheek to tell me: oh it is the frame that is broken!!!
The replacement frame is $12000 plus 8 hours of labor. Doing the maths, after tax, I am looking at $15000 on a car that is worth $25k.

I have never heard of metal fatigue in a car. The top may have been opened and closed 500 times in 4 years? Any ideas who I can complain to?
For the life of me I cannot believe you need to replace the whole top. But I guess it isn't worth the dealer's time.

I could dismantle the top myself and fix it myself if I can figure out the part.

Sorry to hear about that dsabour - would love to see pics of what is broken. I feel the warranty should cover that...and really, 12k? That is just crazy...

I would escalate it ASAP....

ya...I had frame replaced and yes it over 11k to fix, Luckily it was the tail end of my warrenty for a 2010 model. I do need to know what warrenty will cover this frame and cloth for the future. Has anyone had a claim and got this repaired with a extended warrrenty ?
