Another worn/torn roof

Missed posted this into exterior/interior..just reposting here. Add another victim to the torn roof. Just before I was going to store it I saw this right about my passenger window.

Default Another worn/torn roof

Missed posted this into exterior/interior..just reposting here.

Add another victim to the torn roof. Just before I was going to store it I saw this right about my passenger window. I first thought it was the window rubbing.

Took it to the dealship the found this was the reason for it, when it folds down it has been rubbing.

They first said we will take it to our detailer and get it stitched up, was like no fking way. They will do some poor a** job and will tear apart after warrenty. Now they have a call to Nissan Canada to see what can be done...sigh.

I had my top replaced but it was caused by the window rubbing issue described in the TSB Nissan issued. Dealer did the replacement and looks like new. Dealer also said that Nissan does not contract out warranty work e.g stitching. Who knows? Anyway, it's at least a full days job to replace. Mine was in the dealership for two days and then one more day after that because they re-installed a few pieces upside down on the frame bows. I imagine it's a complicated install especially when tops are replaced every blue moon or so at my dealership.

Same here...2 days work. I now have another issue that needs to be fixed on Tuesday. What happenned was the trim piece that cover over the passenger and driver's shoulder near the seat beat that rotate up got crunched by the roof mechanism when I put the top back up. It apparently did not open enough and caught the fabric. Major damage to the surrounding trim pieces...PTA. otherwise love the ride.

BTW-take it to another dealer if they give you hassel. I already replace my top once and will not hesitate demanding another if it goes south again.

Quick update, they will without a doubt take care of this. Currently sending pictures to Nissan US quality control with issue. They are thinking that since its only on the outter cover not lining or mech they can replace that but willl see. The told me to replace an entire top its $13k CDN$. Guy laughed and said will give me a 10k credit to trade the car in for a new one lol...

Guess will be the last update till spring.

Dealership still dealing with Nissan Canada and US quality control. The service manager told me today either way they will order he replacement part as soon as the car is out of storage and will be fixed, so it's a waiting game till spring to see what kind of work they will do.

Just out of curiousity, how many kilometres you guys have on your roadsters when the top started to tear?

I noticed mine with 6K kms. I may not have noticed the tear at all for quite some time later if I hadn't read the TSB in this forum.

6k bah, sure seems like Nissan only cared how the roof line looked now how it worked or the durability of it.

it was just mis-aligned windows right from the assembly line. Costly error for Nissan. I do find it strange that only two or three in this forum had the problem. There must have been a sh1t load of owners with the problem in order for Nissan to issue a TSB. There are a lot more others in here that complained of torn roofs aside from the window chafing issue.

This is why I don't like soft tops... If only Nissan came out with a hard top convertible! But although I don't like the soft top.. It's interior is nicer than the non-convertible.. It feels more sporty.... And of course it will still make any non-convertible Z jealous!!! But only when it's converted....
