That looks like the wrap on that cable bundle, right? I think I remember thinking mine was rubbing during operation. I will have to take a look.

If that is what it is, should be easy to have corrected.

yeah - it's that nylon sleeve around the cables... you need to stop the open/close halfway to inspect it.

Thanks, I think the time I was looking at it is when I was cleaning out the compartment and had it half way open.

This appears to be rather common. My driver side sheath was replaced last month on my lightly used 2010.

Same problem here too! Should I get it replaced or it doesn't really matter?

so far, the fraying has gotten worse, but no apparent affect on the cables themselves. I'm going to let it slide until the next oil change, then let the dealership decide.

Same issue here. Driver's side. Doesn't seem to affect anything, as far as I can tell.

update: i took it to the dealer today and had them inspect it.

they said, that the fix (from nissan) is to replace the entire roof...!!!

they also said they would give me a loaner while they sent it to their upholstery shop to see if they can improve it. no functional issue otherwise - nothing to adjust.

Replacing the entire roof?! I guess it is best to take it in right before your warranty expires and get a new roof.

Just a quick side question. What do you all use to clean the top?

Raggtop or 303. Both are very good.

Update: the upholstery people did a great job of fixing this without replacing the whole roof

it looks like maybe the same cowling that was on there already, just about an extra inch of it down the sleeve. I can't see a seam - maybe some kind of heat shrink to install... I'll post pics sometime next week when I'm back from my travels.

Good...no reason to replace a roof for an obvious sleeve around some wiring Now, if you have rubbing an other issues, then the top needs to be replaced. I will be having mine replaced in the spring due to two different wear marks. Drivers side rear (reported before) as well as one on the interior where it seems to hang up on a motor before closing (I think its also been reported).
