Very sorry to hear. Hope they get you sorted out soon.
I have to tell you that I am not an "extended warranty" person but I bought one on this car because of potential issues with the top. I knew some people had issues and I was willing to take the chance but didn't want to worry aobut what may happen if the dealership had my car for a week... or longer. I also think the "allignment in person" thing is BS. It does not take a rocket scientist to read numbers off of the allignment sheet and know you are going to have problems! If the tires have abnormal wear in that few miles and need replaced, it is clear there is a problem. You should have a copy of that alignment sheet in your hand from the original tech that read the existing settings and pictures of the tire wear for future reference. Camber can be detrimental but incorrect toe will chew up a set of tires in no time because the tires are constantly abrading. I wish you the best! Please keep us informed of your progress. Here is the shot of my tech's '61 pickup that I mentioned previously....

I am not really impressed with Nissan Corp or Irvine Nissan at this point.
Both of them seems to not have any common sense, when it comes to treating customers.... I totally agree on the alignment... Alignment was off from the factory. It chewed up my tires. within 3000 miles. A. Put the alignemtn back to factory spec. Give me new tires B. Put the alignemtn back to factory spec. Give me the middle fingers on the tire replacement. Atleast this way, they won't wast any more of my time. But again, they are trying. I guess regional service person came down today in person to look at the alignment issue but car was still at upholstery shop. My bigger worry is. This shop had the car since tuesday.. And they still haven't figured how to put on a new top.. Doesn't seem right... (Only suppose to take 7 hours on the book) I will keep everyone updated. Thank you. I will read it..
Upside is. I lemoned a STI before, I know the whole procedure. It wasn't that difficult to do. Plus in CA, the MFG has to pay for the attorney fees and expenses. Which is another upside. |

ej,
Sounds like the stealership is playing you. I went through something simular a year ago. We had the car in the driveway for 27 days and the dealership had it for 27 days. During that time they would call me up and say it ready and come get it. Two of those times I returned it the same day because it wasn't fixed. Last time I picked it up only had it at the house for 2 days and that was only because the second day was Sunday. The hydroilic's blew on the roof this time and I had had enough. I took the day off on Monday morning and took it back in. Service department told me what had happened to the roof. I scheduled an appointment with the General manager that day and pled my case never raising my voice. One of the things I told him was that we loved the car.....but not that car! Filed a formal complaint with Nissan that same day. The following Monday we drove off the lot in a new ZR. Didn't cost me a dime out of pocket and haven't had a problem since. During that time I never had to pay for rental, even in the beginning. When I met with the Manager he ask about the rental. My wife said "O-Please" that was all it took and he pulled a new car off of his lot for us to drive. Hats off to Nissan Corp. and my Dealership. Sounds to me like you need to go up the ladder a little more. You shouldn't be paying for the rental and Nissan has been known to compensate you for your troubles. Good luck with your repairs...but step up to the plate a little closer. |

I think one of my biggest issue regarding rental reimb etc etc etc is. Service Dept Manager, My service writer (@ Irvine Nissan) and Regional Tech person...
They might be good and straight forward on warranty work but have no common sense regarding customer service.. If I don't get my car back today and fixed correctly.. I will be contact Nissan Corp and General Manager... But will see..... I should know something today... |

Update..
My car is ready. I was advised. Not to open the roof for a week. (Something about fabric has to be really stretched for a week or two... Well, I go back next Thursday for the alignment issue and hopefully tire get replaced. I'll keep everyone updated. |

Sweet! I think I would take it back and let them open it the first time. Just in case it went off like a jack in the box.

When my top was replaced there was no mention of keeping the top closed for a week to stretch. Just sayin'.

Another Update 8/13/11
I went in to the dealership to pick up the car this morning. Top looks like it was installed properly but can not tell until they try to open and close the top thursday. Unfortunately, tires are so worn out. It doesn't seem safe to drive the car specially until thursday. I get I am stuck with the rental until then. Spoke to general mgr he will talk to service mgr and help me out. Crossing my fingers.. |
