I have one of the 3" "carbon fiber" antennas. It isn't actually carbon fiber and it isn't actually an antenna. For an antenna to work it has to have a wire, or some form of metal in it. These are just decorative plastic tubes.
I don't tune off of satellite unless I must. I've gotten used to it and when I do have to listen to good old "radio" I tend to twitch. I've ordered a replacement for the 3" antenna, which came apart just above its base. The new one is only about 3/4" long. No bigger than the base of the one I have. It's due here Wednesday. It'll suck as an antenna but it should look good. So, if you are interested in good looks, go shopping for antennas on fleabay. If you want reception, as OldGuyFla suggested, stick with the OEM.

Let's see. Catching up...
I can't remember an 8 track that didn't get eaten. OldGuyFla has 3 years on me. I guess that makes me RelativelyOldGuyIn. Back to TX370ZVert's antenna question: I did some experimenting. I actually tuned to my local FM radio station. (I'm over it.) This antenna has better reception than the 3" "carbon fiber antenna" (Quotes because it wasn't really carbon fiber or an antenna.) I had on it before. I can't say how it compares with the stocker. First I'd have to find it... Anyway, I even think I like the looks of this one better. Less like a hamster in heat and not at all like a walkie-talkie rubber whip.
