Check it out and find out if you're affected.

 I might be, I'll have to look more closely when it stops raining but I think mine has been. It was such minor rubbing though that I didn't worry about it and figured it was due to the cold, but now I'm not sure.

Is anybody else having problems opening the pdf. It could be the fact that I'm at work but haven't had problems in the past?

crash1369 03-16-2011 08:56 AM

It opened fine for me, and I just tried it again.
What kind of problems are you having? Does it even download, any errors, etc?

Daveski38 03-16-2011 11:23 AM

Will not download

crash1369 03-16-2011 04:03 PM

Could be something at work then, do they have any blocks or some sort of internet filtering? Try it again at home.

In related news I checked my car and the windows don't hit the roof, but Damn are they close... like less then 1mm :bowrofl:

Daveski38 03-16-2011 06:30 PM

Opened up for me at home, Damn filters at work.

I'm headed to the garage, don't think it's rubbing the fabric but man is it tight. Have to unlatch the door and wait for the window to drop.

If I don't the window hangs up and doesn't feel, sound or look right.

I went out and looked and mine appears to be okay. I don't see where there is any wear on the soft top at this point, but it's good to know.

I've noticed a weird sound if I open the door to fast. I guess that I need to remember the door a little slower.

Thanks AK,
My Z is covered and in storage, but of course I'll check it as soon as she's back on the road this spring. I have to admit that I was shocked that Nissan actually put out the TSB, but I am pleased with Nissan over the fact that they're stepping up to this issue.

Hi-Step'n370Z 03-17-2011 03:45 PM

Just had a thought. If anyone needs to have the top replaced because of the window rubbing issue, wouldn't that be a very good time to address the other "top tear" issue, by applying a "preventative fix" to prevent the wear through, while the top fabric is off the frame?

As has been posted, there have been a number of those fixes done, and if Nissan has established a way to prevent the wear through issue, I think it would be good for all of us to know exactly what it is, especially the dealership's who are the ones that end up applying it.

Does anyone have an email or some direct way to contact the person or department that could see that this repair info gets into the right hands?

Just found this TSB and actually had this issue looked at here at the local Nissan dealer off of Hwy 153 in Chattanooga.

Should there be a charge for any of this being repaired?

The service manager "Danny Pippin" looked at my car and even gave me one of his cards, which he wrote the name of someone to look at and fix the top.

He said the windows were not covered under any warranty and since it would be an adjustment, which is only covered to 12,000 miles ( I had 15,299 at the time on 02/02/11) that I would have to pay to have the adjustments done and the top would not be covered under any kind of warranty even though I have Nissans Gold Warranty Package.

When I got the car back there was so much wind noise, even at 45 to 50 mph, that I had to take it back a second time.
The earliest I could get it back to them was on 02/11/11 for which I was not charged.

crash1369 03-27-2011 05:25 PM

That's why there is a TSB, is should be covered. Give them the number and tell them to look it up, if they won't reimburse you call Nissan.

Hi-Step'n370Z 03-27-2011 05:29 PM

I agree, you should not be charged for a repair covered under a TSB. I ditto what crash1369 said and also that you do what he advised you to do. Let us know how things go for you.

tn370z 03-27-2011 05:56 PM

I will be returning tomorrow to the dealership and ask the service manager again if it is covered then I will get the owner/ manager involved before revealing the TSB, BT10-041, I located here to them and see where it goes then and report back.

crash1369 03-27-2011 11:22 PM

Why, playing games with them is just going to piss them off and make things more difficult for you. Just tell them the number since you've got it and have them look it up, it clearly says what is covered and there shouldn't be any questions.
