Survey: Roadster Price Cut-Offs
Hey guys, I'm new here and am looking to own a ZR. I went to a dealer the other day and was shocked they were quoting me nearly 52k. A look at inventory online shows most dealer stock are at the 45k - 48k range.
That got me thinking, why would they price them so high to the point where people would consider the German roadsters, especially with some top problems popping up on the z. I'm wondering, if there is really actual demand to back the supply in that price range, or are dealers setting themselves up from having a huge stock of overpriced stock that they will have to give away at huge discounts when the next model year comes up. Question is, of all 370Z Roadster owners, who bought up to 40k and who bought above 40k? If you can give specific pricing, that would be beneficial to all. Thanks. |
If you have an American Express Card, they have a car purchasing program that will let you buy the car for approximately $500 under invoice. I plan on doing this, when/if I ever buy one...but look into it!

I bought my silver roadster, touring 7AT, in April. It was about 43K MSRP, including the destination charge, but I was able to get it for a little more than a thousand under invoice, if that helps, but YMMV. That brought me well under 40K. I took my time in purchasing, played one dealer against the other, and waited until I got the best price. The waiting wasn't easy, trust me!
That being said, the negatives that you read--things like visibility, are nothing. This is a great car. |
I picked up my Black Cherry Touring Roadster with SP and every option for 43,500. Sticker was 48K.
I could have gone a little lower but I hate to dicker. the 43,500 was 305 dollars less than invoice with destination charges included. When the guy came to me with a price of 48K I just laughed at him and wrote down my only offer. He came back to me with a higher number again and I just told him to tell the manager that my offer was what it was, if he did not like it please return my keys so I could leave. Needless to say with 6 roadsters on the lot at the end of the month the manager came out and gave me the old "you are making me take a loss on this car, yada yada yada" I just told him that if he did not want to sell it then please give me my keys and I would be on my way. I was on my way an hour later with a new Roadster. It is a great car. Too bad I am out of the country with only pictures to look at... |
@ OP: Remember that the roadster starts at 7k more than the coupe. Add to that the fact that you have to have touring to get the sport package. Many that you see on the lots are heavily optioned out because the target audience is a bit older.

I will always be just turning 17... or as my wife say "6" And good luck finding a touring that is not optioned out, when I bought mine the nearest one was in North Carolina and I was not waiting that long to get one... |
Ha. Yea ... That was my point. The prices seem like a lot more because most have touring/sport and a lot have Nav
|
Yea mine had Nav, which I did not want but now that I have it I am glad I got it with Nav it is a very nice system when you factor in the phone integration. Very nicely done.
It also had every other dodad that they could put on the Z, and since I am in MD I also get a real spare tire mandated by law... |
Yea mine has sport and Nav as well as most other options -- no spare though. I wanted the Nav, but not the lighted kicks lol
|
I'll probably be flamed hard, but if I wanted a convertible, I'd be only seriously considering the G37 vert. Hard top, very pretty car, and it's barely more expensive than a Z with full options.

No flames. I looked at it. It was nice, but pretty in a luxury car sort of way. Not sporty at all

I think it's sporty! But yeah, the Z looks a lot more aggressive.

Funny how suits and a podium make it look classy and not that sporty, but rocks and desert do the opposite :)

The G37 convertable has a curb weight over 4000 lbs, no thanks.
