Obvious Nissan has redesigned the roof - was comparing 2011 and 2012 roof service manual. Obvious changes in soft top cover design.

I love the 370z you cannot beat it for the price and performance.

First good to see you on here Havoc2, my top issue are pretty much done besides a another re-paint on the convertible lid from damage hitting one of the inside bars on opening. Have it booked for Oct 28th before I put her away for the year but might do it sooner. Was kind of funny with both of us in the dealership at the same time with top issues.

PM me sometimes we should do lunch...

Anyways back on topic, I have had several top issues, all under warranty and taken care of in reasonable time frame. Guess we been lucky since the Nissan lot in Kelowna is good and really reasonable with issues..

Replaced my top once when the window on the driver side (Window TSB) caught the rear section 5 months into ownership. After returning twice to fix issues related to the poor install (crunching the plastic retainer and damage to the plastic roller bar cover), I am back again 1.5 years later. This time the front passenger side window cause a small tear at the front. Never notice until the summer (again poor adjustment). Now I am told that they need a new assembly..

Sorry man.

Mine tore the first time I put it down with only 21 miles on it. Brand new one - no probs yet. Best thing is to keep it under warranty.

And make certain the dealer knows how to install it.

Got mine covered under the original warranty. But still having issues with top hitting the lid on opening. It's going back in for adjustments once the car is out of storage around mid April

Having nightmares about my just purchased 2010 roadster after reading this thread. Holy cow - $10,000 to replace the top assembly????? My 2010 has 9000 miles on it and the top looks perfect at this time. I have no idea if the previous owner cycled the top once, never, or every day. A few questions for you roadster owners -

Are the top tearing issues something that has happened to most, a few, or everyone?

How about hydraulic issues/failing pumps? Is it a rare occurrence or something that will happen to all?

Thanks for any answers!
James

Out of pocket does not cost $10K. Mine was replaced and the top material itself cost $1200 Cdn. Labour was a day and a half (Nissan has the repair time as one full day, so I was told by the service manager). That does not come close to $10K if it's just replacing the top because the windows have contacted the top and rubbed a hole in the material or a piece of the frame assembly has rubbed and holed the top. A damaged frame of course will increase the total cost for sure. I don't think there have been many problems with the actual mechanical workings of the frame for the top. Contact the dealer and have them check through your VIN if the top was replaced already under warranty.
