Crash,
I feel your pain about not being able to use it on the track...I've been thinking to myself recently that if I was unable to, that'd be the end of this car for me as it's way too much car for the street....i have the santa cruz mountains to cruz through and do on a daily basis to work and even then, no track equals no mas. But I'm really surprised you can't track it. If your looking just for hpde's there's an number of them who have told me no problem. If your talking racing in a series can't really help you there. But hooked on driving does run nj motorsports park and pocono in the northeast, and a number of tracks around the great lakes. Try running with them before you ditch...it's a helluva car at speed. You will realize quickly as I have that if you ever rolled the vehicleinto the soft sand traps on the high speed corners that you'd quickly be supporting the car with your head as the rear hoops are so thin that they'd probably just sink in...I've only run with the top down once because of that, hoping that the fabric would be enough surface area to prevent a sink in in a high speed roll. Try one of their events before you go. |

I'll have to look them up, but every organization I've found has said no. or that I would have to at least add a roll bar. I'm not cutting up my interior though or paying for a custom bar to be made.
I've got another car for that anyway though so now maybe I'll actually finish it.

Cool! If they need another "functional acceptance" tester, let me know.

The good news is apparently my car is done and the modual is finished. I was looking forward to having it back and cruising with the roof down, but the "bad" news is it looks like I will be trading it in on a C300 very soon. There is still still time for the dealer to drop the ball but it's looking good so far. I'll have some time while I'm, waiting for the new car so of course I will confirm everything is working as expected before I get rid of it.

To those of you not wanting the Z because you cant track it, UAM is in the process of developing a Hard top. Go vote on it so your woes will go away!
On topic this is a great mod +rep to crash for donating his car.

I have a feeling it's my car
I would have liked to explain how it works and everything it does, but there is just to much. I'm gonna have to do some studying so I can impress the mercedes dealer It looks like a very well thought out unit with a plethora of options. Between the module, and actually getting to drive it again after so long I almost don't want to sell it now. He said they should ready and available for purchase in about eight weeks.

So Crash... does your car now currently have the unit still installed? Is it working on your car or did they take out what they did, to replicate it and mass produce it? I am curious, did they offer you the unit for free or give you any special deal for being the guinea pig? |

yeah I still have it, I'll be messing with it some more tomorrow. I know it all works, I saw him using it. But I don't know how to do it properly
The prototypes are not the easy plug and play units they sell so it's pretty much permanent in my car, the 8 weeks is for the wiring harness. Surprisingly the Z is slightly different then the G's are so they need to have new ones made.

Still testing the module, I know how to use it now
No problems so far (not that I expect any) but I figured I would let you guys know I did put down a deposit on another car. I will probably have the Z for another three weeks though and now that it's warm I should be using the top at least one every day so it will be thoroughly tested before I trade it in. Or you've got three weeks it you want to snatch up the Mercedes of Nissans

When I created this thread, I really didn't think I'll be getting any results. Especially after months and months of no responses. But I'm sure glad I started it now
This mod is well worth the wait. HUGE thanks to Crash once again !!! and thanks to everyone who posted on this thread too! |

Glad I could help. It's a little funny I had this car just long enough for this to come to fruition and now it'll be gone soon. I'll just chalk up all the money I lost as taking one for the team.
