Replace the seal? If you can't figure it out probably best to take it to a competent shop.

Fcnismo,

Its too difficult to tell whether the seal is torn, or if its just come out of its grip track that holds it in place. Before you order any parts and spend money ... get the car to a shop that replaces/repairs convertible tops and get it checked out.
The seal may just need to be popped back into its grip rail, and isn't damaged at all.

To add to that .. your pictures show a metal piece hanging down that doesn't strike me as normal. Whatever it is may well be what has torn/dislodged the window seal. Another reason to get it checked out by someone who knows what their doing. And depending on the size of your Nissan dealership ... they may not have a service tech who can figure out how to correct things, unless they are a large dealership and have sold and serviced a good number of roadsters.

Keep us posted as to what you find out.

I had a similar looking situation with mine. They replaced some part at the dealer along with the weather stripping there.

A Nissan dealership is probably not the best place to take a vert for inspection/repair. They may not have even seen a vert, much less actually worked on one.

As per JARblue and gbhrps, find a local shop that has experience working with verts (not necessarily 370Zs) and get them to check it out.

My SWAG is that a passenger snagged a piece of clothing on the weatherstripping/finisher when getting into the car. Might be able to just push everything back into place. YMMV

My problem is it’s still under warranty
And everyone at the dealer looks at you clueless.

Are you able to think for yourself at all? Sorry, not trying to be insulting, but c'mon dude. Stop asking for everything to be spoonfed to you.

If it's under warranty, make the fuckin dealer fix it. And don't settle for anything else. Make them bring in a competent mechanic to do the work under warranty if necessary. Talk to the dealership GM or NNA (Nissan North America - i.e. Corporate).
If the dealer won't cover it under warranty and charges too much then take it to a shop that can fix it for a reasonable price. The work the shop does can't void your warranty under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (Google it if you don't know).

I started this thread hoping someone had this issue. This is why
Forums are useful. If this was easy it wouldn’t be an issue.

Hi there. I had a very similar issue with my top. That little piece of metal is normally covered by rubber, but somehow it managed to cut its way through the rubber. It ended up causing a slight rattle when it bumped against the window glass.
I bought a new seal (it's about a 6" section, roughly) and replaced it myself. Pretty easy. Instructions are in the owners manual.
When I replaced mine, I at first accidentally bought the right-side seal, when what I needed was the left-hand one. It looks like your issue is on the right hand side, correct? If so, I'm happy to send you my unneeded seal, still in package, gratis. Just PM me if that would help.

Clearly, this is what happened to the OP. Should be an easy fix. Good on you BoilardZ for offering up the RH seal to him

I wonder if it's worth capping or taping up that metal or filing down the edges to try and prevent this from happening.
