So the old kit is # 971F6-1ET0C
and the new kit is # 971F61ET2A Which one will fix the problem? Would someone please shed some lights? Thanks. |
Thanks for all your hard work with this project. Please keep us informed as to how well it is working for you. It looks like a very tedious and complicated project so i hope it will be a good solution. I have the same issue with my 2014 being very loud and hitting the top also and am ready to order this new part # as soon as you can verify it is an adequate solution.
Thanks! |

Hi mate, thanks also for posting all the info on the new bungee kit. Like many others, or do I say just about everyone’s, my deck lid hits the 5th bow and I was going to order the new kit and replace it myself, using the Top hydraulics very helpful video clip but when I read that some owners here on the forum said it took Nissan over a week to install the new kit part number I knew that the kit must be quite different from the original one. Here in Australia I have no confidence in letting my local Nissan dealer do this work. I may ring around Sydney at some stage to see if any dealership has carried this out, as I do not want my car to be the guinea pig. |

I finally have some time to tackle this project this weekend. I was going over the instructions last night.... man, its alot of steps! Ill need to go over it a few more times to make sure everything is clear to me before I go cutting and drilling stuff. I suggest anyone installing the kit do the same!

Hello, first time caller, long time listener here.
I just did this repair on a 370Z in our shop and it is much more involved than the previous kits. I thank you majorly for providing the TSB. The issue with this particular 370Z was the 5th bow hitting the edge of the storage compartment, not actually the tonneau. But it did come into contact with that. There are a lot of parts to these tops, but the main thing I just wanted to say is that this kit, as of now, makes a big difference in the top operation right away by adding a spring which does the brunt of the pulling. We've done quite a few of these with the older bungee repair kit in the past with mixed success. Sometimes it would only solve the rubbing mostly, but not fully. The spring on the new kit, once installed, really pulls the bow up and out of the way and when it stows it keeps everything nice and tight. |
That sounds like great news for roadster owners! :driving:
