Roadster Top problems - Nissan Corporate wants you to call in and open case

Well, I thought I would update. Picked up my car today. They installed the new bungees per TSB. So far so good. Storage lid is no longer hitting the top.

Anyone find a good top shop in the Phoenix area? If not I’ll plan a road trip to Prestige. Thanks!

Picked up my car yesterday had the new bungees installed as per TSB.
works great, the mechanic took 20Hrs to complete but said the second one would take half as long. Nissan head office only pays 2.5 hrs to do the modification. Nice to have the car back.

That's just f_ing sad. You buy a brand new car and it's not even broken in yet and the top isn't working? It's time for a class action suit. I know the only people who make out on a class action are the lawyers but Nissan should pay through the nose for selling what they knew was a crap product and then not making good on fixing it. I went to the dealer that sold me my Z and they glibly told me "we don't work on tops anymore." How can you sell a car in 2013 and offer service on it in 2019 and then go on to say you won't service certain parts of it (because it's expensive and effed up and there's no money in it)? What a sham. Is anybody here engaging a lawyer to fight this mess?

Hello, is this the official "fix" for those of us who's top no longer works?

Thought I'd update. The fix for the top hitting the toneau cover is still working. So far so good. The dealership will fix the paint chips it caused next oil change under warranty. They wanted to fix that sooner, but I wanted to make sure that the problem was resolved before they went through all the trouble.

I already got a lawyer (and won via settlement out of court). Was super easy and required no effort/money on my end other than sending over a few documents as requested by the lemon law attorney.

I no longer have the vehicle but would absolutely retain counsel (if still under warranty when issue started occurring).

TJM370ZR would that work for anyone, or only those living in states where lemon laws apply?

After following this thread since I purchased my 2019 in May new in Oceanside of last year, today the board administrators FINALLY VALIDATED my email so I can post. After many months of increasing frustration with the convertible, the new "dealer fix" was finally performed last December at my local dealer in Palm Springs Took four days, as the TSB was evidently being revised while mine was in the shop, but it has worked perfectly to this day. All at no cost to me, of course, and a loaner for the four days. Now up to just over 10,000 miles and loving the car. It replaced a 2018 Mx-5 which was totaled on the interstate between here and LA at 6 am when I hit a bale of hay. My last five cars have been sticks, and I wanted a decent automatic (not a CVT) since my work takes me into mind-numbing downtown LA traffic at least every other week.

I purchased a 2016 370Z roadster at Mossy Nissan as a Certified Used car with 24,000 miles. Purchased on December 18, 2019. I noticed that the top was noisy and "clunky" when opening/closing. They checked it and said it was OK. I was out of town for a few weeks and didn't use the car. Upon returning, I noticed that the passenger door window didn't properly lower when opening the door. Complained to the sales people who sold me the car. They said that it would be taken care of under the certified car program. Brought car in 12 days ago. Still waiting for new bungees and gasket for the top. What gives with the service parts supply chain?

Clunky is par for these tops. For the window issue look up window reset. It's a 1 minute fix

I noticed that nissan posted the name/number of the new fifth bow technical service bulletin (TSB). I looked in CarMD and Alldata but didn't see it posted. Would be interesting to see the details of the bulletin, especially since it sounds like it is 30 pages long.

SB 2010-19 370Z Convertible Top Rubs on Storage Lid when Opening Closing
Summary of NTB19061:
IF YOU CONFIRM
The convertible soft top rubs on the storage lid when opening or closing.
ACTION
Install the 5th bow bungee kit.
* See page 30 for a complete list of what is included in the 5th bow bungee

Please see this bulletin for further details.
