Top switch didnt work
Something interesting happened yesterday and I thought Id share it so it may help someone in the same situation. After washing the roadster, I usually open the top partially so I can clean the rear windshield. Well, I opened it only slightly, so that the storage lid didnt even open (I usually open the top enough so that the top storage area is completely exposed).
Anyway, I hear a weird POP. Get back in the car to close the top, and nothing happened, either opening or closing. The TOP OPEN indicator light was lit on the dash board. Thought about checking fuses, but got lazy and popped the little plastic cover thing so I could close it manually. Got in the drivers seat, pulled the top down as far as I could to lock it, and just for grins, pressed the TOP switch. It started working again. Worked flawlessly after that. I guess the top was between sensor positions and didnt know if it was open or closed. |
Does it work now?

Hi bunk Have you had any other operational problems with the Z? If not that is great seeing it is a 2010. Dan |

I had to put mine down partially to look for a squeak we discussed in another post. When I did that the top wouldn't go up or down. I found that if I run both windows all the up then push the up or down switch it will work as it should. First the windows go all the way down then it goes up or down depending on what I do. For some reason mine won't do anything unless the windows are first in the up position. Just some info you might be able to experiment with.

10MPlayer,
Since your top problem starts with the window positions, I wonder if a reset of your window system would cure it? Worth a try? Here's the window reset procedure: 1. Shut the car door. 2. Raise the window to the fully closed position. 3. Press the button to open the window completely and keep the button pressed down for a further 15 seconds. 4. Raise the window to the fully closed position and keep the button pulled up for a further 15 seconds. 5.Done. Gene |
