Plastic noise?
Hi guys,
I have some kind of whistle-like noise behind the driver seat, as if somebody is bending some hard piece of plastic and never could determine where it comes from? Didn't anyone have such a case? |
That is a little vague description. Can you hear it both with the top up & down?
|
To locate the source, it may help to have a passenger along. He/she can listen for the noise while you concentrate on driving.
|
Yeah thanks for advice! I do hear with open top and closed. Its like a plastic bending sound, driving me crazy ((

I think SouthArk370Z probably has the best idea as a place to start. It would be hard to track down without hearing it.

Was doing major inspection and found out that the noise is produced by the convertible lid - huge metal behind between headrests and trunk cover. If I press on it, it will produce very similar squeezing noise! Any convertibles have that issue here?

Wow I've never heard anything like that with mine. I'll take a look at mine tomorrow & see if I can see any dampener that might be missing or wore out on yours.

Your noise sounds a bit like one my car was making several years ago. Take a look at this post:
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-r...ml#post2708195 I went back and looked at the invoice, it was the plastic spacer in the first picture. |

I took a look at mine this morning & the two items that ksagis pointed out are definitely good to check out. I also found what might be two other places that you might want to check. The first two pics. show a piece on each side of the front of the lid. They are made out of what seems to be rubber & support the front. The last pic. seems to be some kind of adjustment for the rear of the lid.
I'm sorry my last pic. is a duplicate of one of the pics that ksagis posted to you but it does look like it would give problems if not adjusted correctly. Good luck & please let us know what you find. Dan |
