Who Puts Their Z Away For The Winter?

4 Attachment(s)
I'm about 90 days into owning my first Z - bought it at beginning of Nov and thought I'd have to put it away immediately - but, we got an extra month of beautiful summer/fall weather - so, just now putting it away (sad face)

Clay barred. 12 Month paint sealant. Car cover. Will be inside.

Plan on starting it once a week or so - if nothing else just to sit in it and listen to it idle! (happy face)

Anything else/special I need to know? Anything else I should do?

Thanks in advance all!

Winter storage has been discussed a LOT on this site. If the site's search isn't finding what you want, go to any major web search engine and add "site:the370z.com" to your search string. Eg, winter storage site:the370z.com

Don't have to down here in Florida, I couldn't take not driving it for months out of the year. If it's not raining I have the top down.

Mine is all set. Been in hibernation for 2 weeks now. I miss driving her. Don't forget to follow the link above for tips on how to put a car in storage for winter.

I put away my Corvettes for about 5-6 months at a time. All I do is top off the fuel tanks and hook up a float charger to each. I suggest leaving the engine alone as combustion products contain water which will not evaporate if the oil temperature does not reach a certain level and a certain amount of time. Idling the engine at extended amount of time also creates carbon deposit.

Gentlemen,

Yes, I put my toy away about a month ago, and I've had withdrawal symptoms ever since.

:iagree:
I've stored many vehicles over lots winters. Don't over think it. Change the oil. Check the anti-freeze. Put the float charger on. Leave the key in the keygina. Wait for spring.

We in the South know not of such practices..

Cheesehead 03-03-2017 11:16 PM

I store mine in the winter months, I always put it and my motorcycles on a battery tender and top off the gas tanks. Other than that just clean, wax and cover her up!

Same here in the UK. We have a temperate climate, so luckily the Z can be my daily driver. Haven't need to hit the Snow Mode button once this winter.

I also do not know how I could cope without my daily hit of Z driving. I feel for you winterised people.

JC-Nismo 03-04-2017 08:16 AM

What the hell is a "WINTER"......LMFAO.

ScottM 03-04-2017 05:47 PM

This is mine every year from about November through April...in this picture, the cover or the trickle charger are not on yet.
So, every time I go in and out of the garage I get to see this. :(

My Nismo has been in hibernation since mid November. She's clean, has fresh oil and is ready to go as soon as we get through this sh*tty winter of ours. Presently going through our weekly freezing rain storm. Love the Nissan satin cover, by the way.

Here in central Minnesota, typically the same. This year, however, I actually was able to drive the thing for a few days in February, and for the first several days of March. Was planning on driving to work today, but it apparently snowed overnight. Should be able to drive tomorrow, according to the Weather Channel.

I live in Canada's snowiest city... no option but to hardpark from Nov 1 until April

I just took mine out of storage on Easter Sunday, so the Z has "risen". Started right up just as always, and I keep forgetting how fun it is to drive. It sucks that it has to be stored from November until April, but that's the price you pay for living where it snows. Glad to be driving her again...

Me Too - BUT - You leave the "Smart Key" in the Dash / Hole / Thingy / Place ???

ZoomZ 05-30-2017 12:58 PM

Few things extra I did. Bought a good Cover. Not e-bay or Nissan or Amazon. COVERCRAFT. It is a custom fit, quality materials and workmanship. Most importantly, they are designed to breathe. Many options. Not cheap.

You do not need to disconnect battery. I charge through the OBDII test port with an adapter. There are two pins direct to ground and battery. Get a good SMART charger that maintains as well as charges. (NOCO or CTEK)

Oil change, wax and fill up. No need for Stabil.

I don't understand the question...what's winter? Is that the thing that happens when Santa Claus visits in his shorts, flip flops and sunglasses? ;)

In your neck of the woods, it's the period between the rain and forest fires :bowrofl:

Since the Z is my only vehicle I am forced to struggle through the Milwaukee winter. Not fun.
