Roadster Rear Fog Light
For anyone interested, I just had my J Spec Rear Fog Light installed in my new roadster which presented a new problem as compared to my coupe...in my coupe I used a "third" heated seat rocker switch in the middle/unused center console location ( Nissan 370Z Forum - Robert_Nash's Album: J-Spec Functional Rear Fog Light - Picture ) but that location isn't available in the roadster because that is where the control for the convertible top is located.
So, my mechanic and I solved this problem by placing a second "hazard light" switch in the upper right of the transmission shift lever (where the synchro-revmatch on/off switch is located in a manual with the feature). In an 7AT (as I have) or a manual without rev match that upper right location is simply a "blank/empty" location. Of course, that position is not available if you have a manual with the rev matching option but it works for me and it looks quite "factory" and unobtrusive. I understand why Nissan doesn't make the rear fog functional for the U.S. but I certainly wish they would...I've found it very useful in fog and low visibility conditions when in my coupe plus a real light/lens looks a hell of a lot better than the blacked out dummy unit our U.S. spec cars are shipped with.

You can do what you want of course but keep in mind that this is a FOG light; not a brake light and I would suggest it be used just as a fog light. However, I'm sure it can be wired that way and I believe there are threads on here that describe doing that in detail. If you do a search on "rear fog light" in the DYI/technical section in particular you should be able to find the thread.

Another thought...
As with my coupe, to which I also made this mod, the tech ended up CUTTING the studs that held the dummy unit in place because these things are fastened on at the factory with lockite that just loosening the nuts is extremely difficult. All this to say, if you are going to make this modification or something similar and plan to do it on your own; just be prepared for this problem...other than that, the installation is pretty simple and straightforward. Happy motoring!

Robert, where did you buy the extra hazard switch? I recently did the VSS bypass so I can see all the nav menus while the car is moving. Right now I have the switch hanging down by the driver's seat but I would like to set it up like you did your fog light.

I just wired into the back plate marker light wire, so when I turn on my markers or headlights the fog light comes on...no switch. 2010 Blue 370 vert.

If this is set up while your lights are on...Does it get over heated and most importantly, is it legal while driving at night????? It is SWEET though :-)
