Default How is your top

Hi

I haven't seen any posts for people having top problems for some time & was just wondering how everyone's top is performing these days?
I've looked back through the posts & it seems to me that a good number of the problems had been with the 2010 models. I hope that Nissan has cured the problems & we can look forward to a long trouble free time.
I've had mine for about 1.5 yrs. now & haven't had any problems. Living down here I have my top up & down all year long, so it's gotten a good workout.

Comments please.

I don't want to jinx myself but mine (2010) has been good. My serial # is 381 so its one of the very early ones built in July of 09. 80k miles and only a tiny pinhole on the pass. side quarter (everyone seems to get these) back in 2012. I installed patches on each side on the underside where it occurred and no problem since. The driver side never wore thru with the patch there. No mechanical problems.

I'm trading in mine in the fall for a 2017 which looks to be the last of this generation.

Really? So the model is gonna continue thru 2017? If so, that's cool, cause at the end of this year I'm planning on switching to the roadster.

My 2012 has been in the shop 2x for the top. Both were wiring related, and from what I can tell it was related to the wiring harness being strung too tightly. First trip was a disconnected wire, second trip required a replacement of some wires and adjusting how it was affixed strapped to the car. Now the wiring has more "play". All this and I only have 12,000 miles on it. Bought it 5 months ago with 7500 miles on it. No wear marks yet, but I do see that the stitching is now unraveling in the seam section surrounding the driver's window. **sigh** But I still drive with the top down nearly every day. Love it. Hate the quality of the parts. (been in twice for a total of 10 days for the dreaded clutch/CSC issue.)

Sounds like it must be a hit or miss with the problems. Bet you can't wait till the 17s come out.

Sounds like maybe they have made some improvements. sorry to hear you've had so many problems. Does your top get wet often maybe causing the seams to degrade?
Keep on driving.

No problems whatsoever w/ the top on my 2012. In fact, no problems with the car.

Yeah. I'll jump on that if they do in fact bring it out. That concept looked amazing.

2010 w/ 34k miles. I have had the vehicle for about 6 months now and I have been working with the dealer for the past 3 months trying to fix issues with the decklid hitting the top when opening. So far they have tried making adjustments to the left and right "adjuster bolts" along with replacing the straps in the top itself. Going back in for the 4th trip next weekend and hoping they can either get it sorted out or replace the entire top assembly under the extended warranty I purchased (thankfully). Quite frustrating but otherwise love the car.

I forgot to mention, it only happens on the first cycle. After the first cycle, the 5th bow seems to move into the proper vertical position and there are no issues. If it sits with the top closed for 30 minutes the problem occurs again (but only on the first cycle).

Sounds like the problem will be hard to find since it only happens on the 1st try. hopefully they will replace the top.
Good luck!

'15 Roadster here with 8800 miles on it. I've only owned it since the end of December and have only opened the top a dozen times or so... So far no problems, but am certainly interested in seeing the comments from anyone who has more miles/time on theirs...
