Nissan USA just approved the full replacement of the entire assembly (top/frame/motors/sensors/etc). Going to take a few weeks for the parts to come in but I am very happy with the dealership for staying on top of this and eventually finding a solution with corporate.

Had mine in the shop 3 times for top issues and replaced completely twice. Best advise hands down is cut your loses when you get the new top, trade it in and get a coupe... Or heck get whatever you want at that point. You don't wana deal with top issues outside 3years 36k it's very expensive.

Default Bad Top

2010 with 60,000. Have top down 95+% of the time. Top ripped by each door last year, just like in the bulletin. They wouldn't touch it because it was out of warranty. Now it won't close/open properly. Dealer tells me $7,000 to replace hydraulics; but they fear the top will tear more when they put it back on. So, they say $16,000 for new top.

I bought a new top online ($1025) and a refurbished hydraulic pump ($350 from Top Hydraulics), had them installed by local body shop ($880 labor) for $2255 total. After the install was complete, the body shop told me there is a hydraulic leak on the passenger side (they saw hydraulic fluid running down the side). There was never a drop of hydraulic fluid found by me or the dealership before I gave the car to the body shop. Of course they say the leak caused the top problem and they won't work on it anymore.

Sounds like a ripoff to me & they are bailing out. Hard to say what you can even do about it. It's you say they say. Have you seen the hydraulic fluid leaking since you got it back? Is the top working?

I haven't operated the top since return.
I haven't/never have seen any hydraulic leaks on the vehicle.

Very interesting, I had looked around the internet a while back for a replacement top. Where did you buy it from and how did you like it compared to the factory top?

That's a much better way to go than replacing the entire top (for folks out of warranty).
