And if the doo hickey malfunctions and the engine goes full throttle, I'll just pop it in neutral.

Fwiw, a bunch of guys on the Audi forums would always try to down play what this does as well as the bimmer forums. Crazy thing on both those forums for years is that until they actually try it they hate it. As a previous owner of an audi with said device, it works well. There is a boat load of dsp happening thru that plug on that pedal. I guess for us that love this device, as well as the audi guys, as well as the bimmer guys, we've tried it and won't do without it. Referencing the various audi forums I was active in, the biggest haters of this device were always the ones never satisfied with the countless dollars they dumped into their cars and still was never happy. Anyone here in bakersfield want to try mine hit me up, it will sell itself.

You can get the same result from a tune by adjusting the throttle map, however, not everyone are readily to drop $600-800 on a tune without first having all their breather mods installed, which will add up to thousands. This simple gadget for 300 will eliminate the throttle lag on a stock car without running a risk of warranty issues from a tune. Anyone who doubts its ability can come ride in my car and feel it for yourself. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to buy this, frankly I don't care. I'm just here to share my experience with it when I get it installed.

Installed. It took about 15 minutes. Also I snapped a few pictures I'll post them later in this thread for anyone looking for a guide. I'm taking her for a drive now will give my feedback in a few.
Edit: Okay so here's a quick guide of installing the Sprint Booster on my 370Z: Step 1: Leave your door open a few minutes prior to working. I was told doing this will ensure you don't trigger a check engine light after you remove the throttle cable from the pedal. I did this and did not have any CEL Step 1b: Remove the plastic cover at the base of the gas pedal exposing two 10mm bolts securing the pedal to the floorboard. I used a small flat head to pry the plastic cover out. Once the two bolts are removed, hold at the base and push the whole pedal assembly inward and slides up to lift the pedal assembly out. Step 2: Carefully unlatch the throttle cable from the pedal. Step 3: Throttle cable removed from pedal. Becareful not to pull on these wires. Step 4: Install the Sprint Booster unit on top of the pedal assembly. It only goes in one way. And make sure it is latched tight. Notice my switch is already connected to the Sprint Booster. Step 5: Throttle cable is latched to the Sprint Booster unit. Again, make sure you have a tight connection here. Step 6: I routed the switch behind the carpet and up through the steering column. Used a small piece of 3M double sided tape and placed the switch here for easy access, you can place it anywhere you want. Also, I watched this video beforehand to get an idea of the install. There are some differences but the steps should be the same. Brief review after a short drive: I went straight to Red mode and I was very surprised how quickly the RPM jumped through the gears. It was an immediate throttle response. The car felt so much lighter and more responsive than it ever had. Coming out of a complete stop, I no longer feel like the car is bogged down and trying to get up to speed. Rowing through the gears also felt much smoother. Over all, this one simple gadget gave me an enjoyable feeling that no other mod I have done could match (intake, exhaust, tp). It really made the car comes alive! I am stoke for the drive to work tomorrow morning. I can't wait!

Update:
Red mode is too snappy and quickly got on my nerves. It was very difficult to drive smoothly. This could be due to my already having a tune that eliminated a lot of the lag, not sure. Changed it to green mode and this is MUCH better. Quick and responsive without being annoying. I will run the switch wire today and mount it somewhere so that I can switch back and forth.

Finally installed. Honestly it took longer to get the bolt cover plastic piece out, used a super small glasses screwdriver to pop out, and to get light to go out from door left open. Easy to plug in and get that click. For my auto tranny this works like a champ, stupid not to ever do or try it. Massive differences between the 3, off, green, red for the auto transmission. Changes everything. I hear my dry AFE drop ins sucking air in. Like with the dsg auto it wants more intake. Love it!!!!

Also, in auto mode you can adjust the shift speed by feeding the throttle in green mode, super cool. Paddle shifting is silly fun, fast, completely different and awesome!

So yeah, I'm in love with this car. To me it's like a supercar. I was going to buy a Boxster but I've wanted a Z since 1992 so I went for it. I'm not in love with the delayed throttle response and seemingly long pedal travel though neither is a big deal. I *thought* it was just me when I test drove it, but then I read the Jalopnik review and a few posts here and realized the car is "just like that". I'm going to order the sprintbooster tonight. It sounds like that thing will fix it. I'm a little concerned it'll be too twitchy (for parking and such). Also, it seems like the car shifts much faster in both auto and manual mode when I'm at WOT. Like almost DSG fast (not quite though). Otherwise, it can be kinda slowish. Bhandy- does this thing really make all of the shifts quicker? I understand it's just upping the throttle voltage and nothing more, but if giving the car more gas, faster actually increases the shift speed I'll be so happy. Not to mention that 1 second delay when I step on it... |

My auto does shift faster depending on throttle. Drive it easy and shifts normal but due to all the changes it shifts faster with more input. I too loved the s-tronic but I was really surprised in manual mode the firmness and quickness of the shifts. You will laugh at how big a difference it makes with the auto trans. You can even use the manual model for the auto for even more aggressive action. The car drives just as easy, no twitchy at all, just all so freaking much better. I've been leaving it in green mode and loving every minute! Your Z is probably 1000lbs lighter than the TT. Crazy what losing weight does. My A4 was also 1k heavier than the A3, hated the heavy quattro feeling.

I got my Sprint Booster today and installed it 2 hours ago. WOW! You were so right! The difference is immense. I agree that red is too aggressive, it feels like it's on boil at all times. I really, really like the green though. It feels exactly like I expected the car to feel from the factory and THE MANUAL SHIFTS ARE WAY FASTER. That's exactly what I was hoping for! No more delay in the throttle and faster shift. It is just awesome. Thanks for your responses on this! The car is damn near perfect now. That delay and occasional slow(ish) upshifts were a little annoying, although honestly, not bad. But wow, now they're fixed. I've never driven a car with a tranny I like better than this one now. |

Lots of good information in here. This thing sounds great!
Are there any negative consequences or side effects to be worried about? Will it cause problems later on down the road?

My dad in his 2014 Stingray Corvette came to see me Saturday and loved my car. I've left booster in green mode but enjoy the red sometimes. Anyways he was blown away at how responsive and fast my car was. When driving his in his sport mode was fun but our cars are more than capable in comparison. He loved how quick the Z jumped and opened up. I guess a positive compliment coming from a vette owner.
