Spare Tire?

Is there a spare tire included with the roadster? The tires are not "run-flat", plus audio expansions on the trunk may be limited

The spare tire is an option. If you don't get the spare tire, they have a plug and fill kit included free. Which I highly recommend a tire/roadhazard warranty with this vehicle or AAA.

The kit is basically a canister of foam, to get you to the nearest dealer.

I saw that last night. No spare tire on the 2010 roadster? Only an option? WTF????

And that can of foam ain't gonna help you if you have a sidewall issue.

I believe you get a plug as well with the canister. But yes, for trunk space, the spare tire is an option. Kind of wierd.

At the moment, only Maryland bound cars actually get a spare tire. Demand for actual spares (if you can call what they put in cars today a "spare" was anticipated to be a lot lower than it's turned out to be.

I don't like the idea of no spare but then again, I haven't had a flat in many years and would likely call AAA if I did anyway...it does make for a bit of concern if driving in a remote area!

The odd thing is that the flat tire goes behind the passanger seat.

I am not sure if Nissan is trying to cut cost or what, but it will be a customer complaint battle in my eyes

Great Question, I am not sure how much they have researched it.

I suspect a lot of people on this forum aren't old enough to remember but there was a time when cars came, not with wimpy little donut "spare tires" but real, actual tires that were just like the ones that came on the four working wheels. But, that started to change sometime in the '80s I beleive.

It took people a while to get used to the idea but real spare tires eventually became something you only see now on cars in museums.

A similar thing is not happening with the donut spare tires being replaced by "repair kits". The kits save both weight and money...I don't know which manufacturer did it first or exactly when but I am pretty certain that Ford has been doing this since at least its '08 models.

What seems to have happened with the 370Z Roadster is that the demand for a spare tire rather than a kit far outstripped what was anticipated (I guess it's going to take a while for people to get comfortable with the idea). On top of that, the State of Maryland is the only state that REQUIRES a spare time in a car hence, every roadster that had an actual spare tire got slated to Maryland.

As I've said before, I haven't actually had a flat in years and even if I had a spare, I'd probably just call AAA and ask for a flatbed to tow me so I could get it fixed (of course as I say this, this will probably be the year i DO have flat!).

Saw a show the other day. It showed how fix a flat works. They released the contents into a clear bottle. After a while ther was very little residue left in the bottle. The makers also say it will not harm the tpms.
