Roof lid seems to not align when closing

Hi all,

Wasn't sure what to search for regarding this but I'm hoping someone can pickup on these symptoms;

I opened my roof this morning before leaving for work about five minutes after starting the car. I always open and close the roof on a flat surface. Roof opened fine, no problem. When I got to the office after abit of spirited driving I pushed the button to close the roof...
Lid opens
Soft top comes all the way out, stops and waits for lid to close
At this point the operation stops while my finger is still on the close button.
I release the button and press and hold the open button.
The soft top goes down and the lid starts to close as normal
When the lid gets to the point where it meets the body and starts to lock shut.
It seems to shift diagonally, then a loud clunking sound like it was just
released from being caught on something. But the operation does complete
I push the close button to start that procedure all normal till the lid has to lock in place again.
Looking at it from the driver side door mirror, it seems to shift alot to the right before locking into place, which is when that loud sound happens.

I did open and close the roof twice this past Saturday, happened the first time, but not the second, so I don't know how to replicate it.

Please Please Please help:confused:

Is the something else I should photo?

I just took this pic

The dealership has detected the issue. Apparently it is the hinges on the deck lid. They've informed me that there is too much play in them and that it cannot be lubricated to rectify. They found this out because I gave them links from this forum where I did actually find people with the similar problem, so thanks:tup: . If anyone ever has this issue, here are the part numbers they will be replacing.

972411ET0A HINGE-LID LH

Parts will come in soon, hopefully this sorts it out. Will update soon.

Just got the car back yesterday. SORTED. Was really surprised to hear that with the replaced hinges the sound of the deck lid contacting the body is much much quieter than before. I always thought it was supposed to be that loud.

Cool, glad you were able to sort this out!
