is the Touring package worth it?
I'm looking to buy a 370Z with <30k miles on it. Sports package is an absolute must, but I'm trying to determine if the Touring package is worth it. Glancing at truecar.com it seems to add about $4k to the price of the car which seems crazy for what is basically leather, upgraded stereo, and nav.
Personally, I just really want an XM capable radio, but I'm curious if anyone has opinions of the upgraded sound system in the Touring vs. the base sound system. One other thing to take into account is resale value. Think it would hurt resale if it has an aftermarket tuner in it? I can't live on local radio, so if I buy a base + sport pkg, I'll be putting in a new head unit with XM. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

the nav setup is ood as well. mine could def use the update since its a 2009 but it's so nice for all the display options and everything else that comes with having it. i'd say if the price either way is do-able for you then get the touring package as well.

For a DD, I'd say the Touring package is worth it. See FPenvy's comments above.
If you are looking for max performance, the Touring package will add a few pounds and zero HP, so probably not what you want.

Thanks for the comments so far, guys. Does anyone know how much the touring package is actually worth? Also, you think it would affect resale value negatively to put a new head unit in a base package?
FPenvy, yeah, the price is doable, but the options are limited. There aren't very many touring + sport + 6spd cars out there. Base + sport + 6spd is much more available. I set a fairly arbitrary budget of $25k for this purchase. I'd go above that if I thought touring was worth it. I haven't driven a touring model yet, but I thought the seats in the base model felt pretty good. (you got 324 whp with just 3 bolt ons and a tuning? wow) One more question, what's up with Nissan holding out on 370 owners by only giving cooled seats to roadsters? I'd absolutely be buying the touring package if it had cooled seats. Down in Texas I couldn't care less about heated seats. P.S. side note - I can't believe how many 370Z's were sold with automatic transmissions. You'd think people in that demographic would flock to the G37 and all the enthusiasts would go with the 370. |

I guess it just doesn't seem very "sporting" to not do my own shifting. I haven't looked into it, but they also used to be heavier and had more drivetrain loss. But if you are putting down 324 with just those add ons then it must be pretty efficient. I've been looking for a couple weeks. I'm about to sell my MR2 and IS300 to consolidate them into one daily driver. Would like to replace the hole in my heart from my MR2 as soon as possible. Would really prefer another mid-engine car, but not very many platforms out there. |

and yes mine is an automatic but i've made every shift in that car since i've bought it. i never have it in auto mode always in manual mode. even the downshifts coming to a stop or when driving hard for tranny braking. 324whp and a sub 13s 1/4 mile so the AT is very good in the 370 trust me

6MT/Touring/Sport/Nav is the way to go for sure.

To be honest, I don't know why the Z is even offered without the sports package, much less why someone would buy it.

I bought mine, 6mt/Touring/Sport without the nav. Sure nav is cool but this is my DD, easily 95% of the driving I do is in familiar territory, plus I'm looking at mounting my ipad mini in it so that solves that.
I would never buy a base model and miss out on the heated leather, aero kit, Bose system (love that auto volume adjust!), 19" Rays wheels, dual piston calipers, LSD, and Synchro rev-matching tranny. Just too much cool stuff to pass up... |

I'll take your advice, though, and take it slow. Wait for the right one to pop up at the right price. I'm just trying to figure out what that price is. Is $4k accurate or have I been mistaken? |

also as for the breathability of the seat you must remember the outside edges on the seats are leather. the inside of the seat back/bottom are microfiber suede/alcantara style material. just watch wearing cut-offs/tank tops when its hot weather lol that about the only way that leather will burn you down in texas

I didn't realize the nav was not automatically included with the touring. I think it has been on all the touring models I've looked at online. Like you, I'm not interested in the nav system, but I'm sure they'll want to bump the price up for that feature. |
