I'll have about 12k + my 6k car tradein (i'm estimating that it'll be 6k) so 18k downpayment and the rest i'll be financing. what do you guys think? |

Meaning, buy a new 2010 then a used 2009.
The 2009 went for basically invoice and people have already put orders in for 2010 at invoice. Dealerships are make good deals on these, 2010 base 6MT with sport package might (I say might because we do not have 100% numbers yet) go for 32,000 invoice (plus add TTL). You could probably get a slightly used base model 2009 for around mid 20s by March.

~18k down payment (estimated) ~How much value is a new car to you? ~Do you like or want a loan of X value (X equaling 14k or 7k) There are more variables but your best bet is to watch the market come this fall at used 370z and also how well the new 370z sell for. My next spring the new 370z might be selling for 2k over invoice only and the used 370z market might be buyers dream.

This link is a great start of what a new car will cost you before TTL. 2009 invoice pricing New v. used is a tough debate, you will have to weight all the options when it comes time to buy your car.

Then your best move it to scour the used market come Feb. and start finding the deals and setting up a loan & trade in for your current car.

considering the fact that they have been declining in sales due to the harsh economy, i believe that buying a year old car is more effective than buying a brand new one. the depreciation value skyrockets eh??

Yes and no, price can fall quickly but if a car is rare it could also hold value because of limited supply. Now with the economy and the current "green movement" many sporty cars with low MPG are being hit even if they are rare so there are many factors.

20%? Ouch, I may definitely have to look into this route. 7k-8k is not worth it to me. Not when 10,000 is really rather new still. |
