Please do not purchase anything else from them. Ever.

Not true, not if its a non nissan dealer and they don't know what invoice and 14's are running. Their nada books might not show the 14 price drops yet. And trading used for new gets a tax break. For example he paid 35k, that's $2450 in my taxes. If he buys another 35k car and gets 29k for his, he only pays taxes on the 6k. That's only $420. So really he didn't get 29k for his car, he got $31,030. He'd have to go through all the BS phone calls, listings, showings, retarded people showing up and test driving etc and try for 31k just to break even with a dealer.

Edit, O Sh*t, DR already said this.

GL on your sale, my 2014 that I ordered will be $33,900 for base 7AT but every available option it can get. However, there are not many options to add and I assume yours probably has similar, but there is no way you'll get 33k for it. Some people have said about 29K and I would say that is probably the best you can hope for, but I would think that would be a very generous offer. What cars are you thinking of getting?

victort 12-19-2013 09:57 PM

my guess for trade in would be around 26-27,000 from a dealer

The people brining up the tax advantages of trading - that is a state by state thing. Some states (Missouri) allow you to take the tax credit even if sold private party as long as you buy in a certain amount of time. 60 days if I remember right. California gives no tax credits on trades at all, so it is a nonpoint. I wonder what the OPs state does.

Might even come in 25k. The used market for Z's are following the new market for Z's - falling interest.

I'd trade now!! Being a former dealer I'd hit you mid trade which is $27,500. That's pretty good seeing how a new one invoices close to 30k. If they paid you 27.5k there's not much room for them to make a profit when someone can talk a dealer into invoice on new. Obviously nada hasn't up dated to much yet, but they will.

Funny everyone hated me months ago when I was bitching up a storm how I got ****** on my 13 when the 14 prices came out just 45 days later and I was offered no rebate or apology or anything. Now were all getting bent over. Hate to say I told you so. OP GL.

I think you're right on all points. Tax savings aside, i still prefer the idea of selling privately before I go for another trade. I got raked across the coals when I traded in my Mazdaspeed 3 (I still think getting rid of it was a mistake).

My top choice right now is a used ('07-'10) BMW 335i sedan, but I'm still keeping an open mind. I've thought about a Cadillac ATS/CTS, the new Mercedes CLA (still too new though), Volvo S60 or similar.... pretty much anything with a quiet, comfortable interior, decent amount of storage capacity, low road noise, respectable mileage, and a fair amount of power on tap.

I live in Arizona: we do indeed get tax credits for a trade, but I need to balance the trade price vs. possibility of private sale.

Do you also get credits if you sell it private party and then purchase another vehicle within a set period of time? (like Missouri)

That's scary! Make sure you review this. Look for electrical issues and fuel pump problems!

I loved my 12 regal GS! Everything but power. I mean it got up and went, just not what I wanted it to be. There is a tune for it though for a nice boost of power and drop in's and a custom exhaust (just removed the mufflers with straight pipes) made it sound awesome. Also lowering springs from H&R are nice.

PS its not a Buick, it's an Opel Insigina OPC. German

Out of all of those, I'd buy a CPO G37, IS350 Fsport or TL.

The G37 is still a little too small for my taste - very close in stature to the Z, it's alright but I'm not sure I am convinced. The 350F is an incredible machine, but MUCH more expensive than the other options. I'm trying to keep the budget under 30k.

Acura TL? I used to be a hardcore Honda guy, but I haven't tracked the TL in a number of years. Why do you recommend this one?

To the best of my knowledge, no. I bought a used car via private party a while ago, and I never paid taxes to the seller.
