How much does seasonality affect price/value

I'm looking at a 2010 Z Roadster and I'm wondering what people think about seasonality affecting the price/value of a convertible Z. I want one bad, but I'm trying not to make an emotional purchase. But if I wait until spring when I have more cash, will the price be higher for a comparable model because it's warm out? Or is this price fluctuation mostly myth in your experience? For reference I'm in the Midwest.

Thanks!

You want one under warranty or under an extended factory warranty because the tops aren't the greatest...
That's my 2 cents, and I bet you can get one cheaper in the cold months

I bough my z last year in late fall, they had it for some time, it was a 2010 with 10k miles, they orginally wanted 31k for it through June- August, and I bought it for 26.5 granted im in the north, HOWEVER the longer any car sits at a particular dealer the more bargining power you have, 90 days is usually the auction block send off, unless they are far to invested in it.

Dealers will discount convertibles that are sitting after the season passes more than right before it gets nice out. Availability is another issue, as there arent many preowned convertibles available

How do you find out how long a car has been sitting at a dealer?

You can usually tell through Carfax, shows inspections, online listings, and auction sales. Its not hard to tell once you see that!

I moderate the cars for sale section on S2ki.com and have for 7 or 8 years. I can tell you sales and prices are definitely impacted by the seasons. Days on the market increase a lot if you are unwilling to move on price.

I also did radio and tv advertising for a few dealerships and they would let sports cars and convertibles go for less profit in late fall /early winter. I know because I've had this specific conversation with them. My dealerships didn't want a convertible after June and really dreaded a convertible trade-in after August.
