Freight & Marketing Assessment
For those of you who have recently purchased a new Z is it common to pay the $810 freight charge and the $339 marketing assessment (not even sure what that is), or are you able to negotiate out of that? Thanks.

Freight...usually, no. Marketing assessment...wtf is that?
|
Agreed. Marketing assessment? That's a gimmick add-in. Tell them it'll cost 'em a sale if they don't take that off.
Story time: I negotiated for a friend who was buying a new Sentra. She didn't know the "Market Adjusted Value" was also complete BS. I told the sales guy that they were not going to get the $1,000 they claimed it was worth over MSRP. And then I raked into them even more because of the attempt to rape the general public over a SENTRA. :shakes head: I think you should hold that over their heads. For every minute they argue over that $340, knock $340 off your offer. |
Marketing I would call BS on and would probably call Nissan Customer Service to verify that the Dealer is being straight up. Freight is just the standard "destination" charge. That is normal from what I recall.

It depends if its being added onto a selling price, or included in the invoice you are negotiating off of. The dealer does have those items charged andf included in invoice.
If you are paying invoice, pay them or a few hundred less If you are paying above invoice and they are adding these charges then walk out! |
LOL
am negotiating on a 2013 and called BS on the $333 marketing assesment. Also on the $648 invoice price of rear view mirror. Course they haven't agreed yet so perhaps I shouldn't laugh too much. |
good luck
well hope things work out well for you and keep us informed.
