I agree, but unfortunately it's mostly due to location. My address is a Brooklyn, NY address which happens to be, for some stupid reason, one of the most expensive boroughs in NYC to insure a vehicle.

It is all good Huckleberry. It is pretty much all about location. If you live in TX, Houston car insurance will be more than any other city in TX b/c it is a larger city.

You can get a rough estimate on all of the major providers' websites. Progressive gave me the best rate, about $80/month.

I'm paying $100.61 for my 11 base/sport Z and my 12 altima 2.5s. I guess it averages out $70 and $30, full coverage. Before this it was $250 for both cars. That's what happens when an insurance company tries to defraud you and you have the proof to take them to the cleaners... You get a ridiculously low rate.

Had an accident last year. No tickets on record.

Like others have said location is one of the biggest factors. My insurance is about $120/month for 100/300 in Vegas. Thats with a company discount but on average the insurance is double out here compared to my home city in California. I had an IS that was 2400/year out here and only 1300 in Cali.

I switched it today, so that my mother (is 55yrs old) will be the primary......hehehehe. This will drop drastically to around $65 give or take a couple dollars possibly. It is all about playing the game. FYI insurance on a Nismo is going to be higher than a non Nismo.
I'm 20 so I can expect it to be pretty high. So have my dad become the primary might be a good option. Thanks for the headsup.
I guess the best option would be to call everyone. Damn Insurance

After 30 yrs.of phone calls for insurance rates here is what you are left with for the best rates.

For cars its Geico and Allstate, if rates are close go with Allstate they are better to deal with on claims.

For motorcycles - Progressive hands down and their rates on car insurance is not that good, as Geico or Allstate.

Also if your are only 20, you should try and stay away from a sports car or high performance car class until you get to be 25 for strictly insurance purposes. Before you buy a car check out the rates, your really better off getting one of the sleeper class of sports cars that will slip thru the insurance companies hi rates, something like a (standard V6 camaro,V6 challenger, V6 mustang), wrx, (altima sport 4 cylinder v6 ) etc.

Right now stay away from cars with the ss, rt, or truely sports cars, unless you can afford the high rates, with rich parents or a high paying job.

This will save you a lot of money on insurance rates.

If your dad puts you on his insurance the rates will be a lot cheaper, but he risks a lot if you get into an accident with the sports car and someone is really injured bad. If you insist on getting a sports car then I would not make my parents put you on their policy, as long as your are over 18 and not living at home and have your own insurance in your name, then they are off the hook legally, and once you hit 21yr. if you are still living at home.

Damn, its going to be high at 20. I remember when I was 20 my insurance was like $250 a month for a Honda Accord (in the mid 90's)

For some reason i always thought it was more than that.

+1....... So very true. It is all about playing the game & at what cost. I guarantee that most parents would not be thrilled if their child was to get into an accident with a new sports car, or a spending ticket. I will also bet that they will tell you up front if you F**K UP, then your off the insurance & good luck getting if yourself. FYI be smart & think about what you are going to be doing behind the wheel & do not try to impress others b/c that will only get you into trouble.
