Looking into purchasing 370 in Hawaii.. HELP!
Hey everyone,
For the past few months I've been reading this forum interested in buying a 370z. I've never been too interested in the older 350z, but after I kept looking at the 370z I started to really like it. This is my FIRST post. Anyway, right now I'm debating between a BMW 335i, G37S, and this car. If possible, of course, I want to spend the least amount of money I can. And honestly, if I do decide to get the 370z I want to spend less than what I would pay for with the BMW and G37. Anyway, I am looking at a 6MT white sport / touring. However, I'm worried about dealerships in Hawaii. I'm moving to Hawaii in about 2 weeks and I'm going to have to buy a car as soon as I get there. I was looking at their prices online with their inventory and trims even without navigation are around like $40,000. Anyways, I have a few questions: 1) Do you guys have any recommendations for dealerships in Hawaii? 2) If anyone of you bought the 370z in Hawaii, how much did you pay and where did you go? 3) Is the touring package really worth it? I'm interested in the leather and upgraded sound system. For those who just have the base trim, how does the sound system sound? and for those with the touring, how does that sound? BTW, i like base. Well, that's what I can come up with now. Also sorry for my English, it's 4:34am where I am right now. I was packing some stuff... getting ready for my move. ANyways, thank you in advance to everyone! |

I wish you the best of luck with that but be aware that you ARE on an island. Due to that you are a captive consumer base for them for you have no where else to go and they dont really have anyone else to compete with. I got lucky and found out that one of my friends had a relative that sold the car i wanted (Subaru) so that is how i got a good deal when i was in the market. Again, GL.

Prices in Hawaii does seem to be a little higher than on the mainland. If you can get one on the mainland and bring it over via Pasha...that might be cheaper assuming that you got it like 1500 UNDER MSRP.
There are only 3 Nissan dealers here...Tony, King Windward, and New City. They might be willing to do MSRP. Tony had a sale with Z's going at 1000 under MSRP...or something like that a little while back. Though...that only was for cars that they had on the lot. Why don't you call them or contact someone from the dealerships and see if they can or are willing to work out a deal with you before you come here. If not, then maybe you can have one shipped out. If you can use Pasha...I do believe that they have a better "track" record versus Matson. Will send you a PM as well. |

Why yes i did. Now i have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT and sold the Celica to some college student @ HPU. Got 13k for it in 05! Boy do i miss that car and Hawaii. Namkyu, I follow XLR8SN's and g96818's advice as they are still in hawaii and even though i was there for 10 yrs i havent been there since 05 so my knowledge of dealerships there is dated to say the least. I can tell you that there who you know and your relationship with them can really make a difference. I got to be best friends with the dealer in Waipahu i bought my subi from and saved a **** ton of money. Nearly 4000 under MSRP actually. Besides, every one needs more friends. =) Last edited by joshj808; 08-05-2009 at 02:30 AM. |

HA! I spent 3 yr in Cali then transferred to here. Been here for a few months. Oh, yea, it was UHM i guess. How did the car treat you? I felt really crappy about the recon crap afterwards. I had always gotten the safety inspection hookup from a friend and never bothered with tht dumbass recon process. You do anything to it after? How many miles were on it when you sold it? Think i when i last had it there were around 32k on a 5 yr old car. If you had come to Bahrain afew months back i was here when that happened. Man, its a small world.
BTW, Im thinking of getting the PG 6MT touring but a 2010 model. |

haha, small world indeed. the car was great. no worries about the recon, just had to do a couple of minor things to pass em. i had the easiest safety checks every, cuz the place i did em did work on the car so all they asked for was milage and i got the stickers. i picked up 17" rims, new sways, underbody panels, pfc, and a few more things that i can't remember, but were all good for the car. i sold em at 68k miles. i think the only thing that was bad was the lift bolts broke, but i got a new head out of it. took it in with 10 days left on warranty.
man, we have similar tastes, except i got the 09 model instead, was gonna get 2010, but couldn't wait i picked up most of the bolt-on's already sorry namkyu, thread jacking in progress

oh, good. Glad you enjoyed the car as much as i did. I came so close to turboing that car. I even had the kit in hand but i just couldnt do it. those 18" wheels i had on that car might have looked good but they were heavy as ****. Glad you got something lighter and better. Sways? What happened to the aftermarket ones that were on there? Glad the warranty covered the bolts as it was a real problem with that engine.
Well on to the 370 world, since you already got the hookup with the Nissan peoples then you can assist namkyu. =) Can i get a pic of your car? Are you doing all the install work yourself or you got a shop doing it? |

yea the rear sways snapped, was a factory defect. i jumped on the gb and got a full set shipped for $260
i think i got mid 15's with the 18"'s and pfc, idk with the 17"'s, track was closed by then, but my butt dyno felt a nice difference here's some pics from yesterday So I found my Z... **Possible 56k Warning???** gonna take some more today. but yea, i can give namkyu the email of the guy i dealt with, they're all great guys at king. finance guy turned his smile upside down when i told him i didn't want his extended warranty
