Will the 2013 Prices drop?
Hi it's me - again. Been surfing the web some more and am looking at getting a new Z. For references in this post, I will be talking about Buying a base Z.
We all know that 2013Z sales were slow and that it was hard for dealers to move them off the lot. And as of right now, the dealer I'm looking at had about 10 2013s on the lot. With the new 2014 price drop, will the 2013s also have a price drop and come in below the 2014? The dealers would lose money but it seems stupid to charge more for an older year model than it does for a new model? What do you think? What would you offer for a 2013 base Auto |
You might have to wait until the 2014s are actually on the lot. The general public probably has no idea the price is about to drop for the new models. Until you have them side by side, you're probably going to have to pay closer to invoice.
Just my opinion. I'm certainly no expert. :) |

Just sayin'... watch for more scams, tactics, and BS than normal if you are trying to buy new in the next few months. |
This is a very odd situation as Nissan has not supported its dealer network by offering incentives to compensate for the lower prices. Although I'm sure this has happened before, I don't ever remember seeing a situation like this.

Use the phone and call around. In odd situations like this, they will not all behave the same. |
I've personally seen here in south florida several '13's selling below invoice. For instance, during the last few weeks when I was looking for another Z, I saw several Nismo models priced new around 37-38K and several base auto's selling for 30K. I would assume this is model year end pricing, but it could also include cuts based on the '14 price drop. Why would anyone pay '13's prices with truck's of cheaper '14's literally being dropped off tomorrow.
BTW, i saw a couple days ago a semi truck loaded with 6-7 new Z's going down the Turnpike. |
Its my understanding that Nissan gave the dealerships a $3150 kickback on the remaining 13's on the lot. I bought a 2013 coupe 6 speed with sport package for $30,992 plus tax and title with 0% financing. You will probably be able to get a little better deal on the 14s but i figured so that when it comes time to trade it will be a low mileage 13 v/s average mileage 14. Letting a dealer know that you are aware of the new pricing is a strong bargaining tool as well.

Got the same deal myself + options. Basically straight invoice deal + rebates + %0... extremely happy with the purchase!

My local FL dealer only had 13's on the lot, i scored a base model for $29,XXX - minus my trade and DP, I made out pretty well.
I missed the sport package this time around, non of them on the lot had them, and i simply got a great deal anyways, so I took it to get out of my Altima Coupe. I did make out with some extras, illuminated kick panels, carpeted mats, splash guards, and the Home Link Mirror with back up camera, so at least i got a few goodies. Tint too. :-) |
