I debated on whether I should get the Touring + Sports but decided against the Sport because it's going to be a daily driver and I don't really plan on doing any track runs. LSD would be nice but not critical for me. The 19" rims are cool but make the ride a bit rougher and louder. The bigger brakes won't make much of a difference for me. Plus bigger brakes + nicer tires means more cost down the road when it comes time to replace tires + brakes. SRM is nice but, again, it's not required and it's another features that would need repairing down the road.

Btw, $35k out the door? that's amazingly good for a touring + sports (or was it base + sport). I couldn't do base + sport cause as a daily driver (~60 miles/day), I need the features in the Touring.

One reason I am still looking at the sports package is because it'll help the resale value if I ever do decide to upgrade. I'm 90% leaning toward no sports and 10% for sports.
I drive a PG Touring, Manual, w/ Sport and of course it has the obligatory floor and cargo mats. You are correct in your assertion that if you are concerned with resale value, and are purchasing, then the sports pack is going to help you sell it later. Enthusiasts looking to pick up a Z will opt for a manual with a sport pack to get the wheels, brakes, aero and Syncro Rev Match (SRM).

I daily drive my Z as well, so the Touring was definately worth the extra cost above the base. You will likely not find a noticable increase in ride quality, noise or price to maintain on the sports package. Considering you are willing to pay $800 for all those other pieces, I would consider shelling out for a little more and getting a manual Touring with Sport. You (or rather you if you are like me) will be much happier in the long run. But it is your money and you are going to be better at judging whether you will kick yourself everytime you see a Z and notice it has the sport pack and you don't. You may not. I LOVE sports cars and wanted the best starting point.

More important, if you are considering the sport pack, test drive one and pay close attention to the most important addition: SRM. It may sell you on it by itself. I've only ever owned manual transmissions for my cars and was uncertain if the purist in me would take to SRM. I used to heal-toe downshift my DSMs. I don't even like the dual-clutches (tried the new Audi TT), but I leave SRM on and love it to death.

Oh, and the price, well, talk to more than one dealer. In fact, call Dealer A and ask for their best price on a Touring Manual Sport out the door (OTD). Then call Dealer B and tell them that Dealer A gave you this quote for OTD and you want to know if they will beat it and you'll pick up the car today. Then call Dealer C and do the same. Finally, call Dealer A back. Somewhere in there, you will get a below or at invoice quote. I dealt with 4 dealerships here (Houston: Baker-Jackson, Sterling McCall, Tom Peacock, Mossy) and got mine for invoice OTD the very day they hit the ground. Got the color and options I wanted too. They dealer trade, so don't let them pull that "Well, I have the car you want BS."

I hope this helps. Happy hunting.

Fontana Nissan in California is giving $3500 off the Touring package.

Might be a nice road trip for you...

I'm in Georgia so the gas and flight would kill the deal unfortunately.

After reading the "how much you paid for your Z" threads on here I feel a lot more comfortable about the price that I was quoted. The threads were a bit confusing because some people quoted price + TTL and some quoted cost before dest. and dealer fees and some quoted price + dest and dealer fees but without TTL. I just had to assume what they meant based on the prices they gave.

I'm going to send a nicely worded email to one of the GMs at the dealership with my offer and see if he wants to see the car this week. Good idea or should I just work with one of the internet salespeople?

your best bet is to call in and talk directly to the internet sales person. don't even set foot inside the dealer until you've got the deal you want over the phone. Instead of getting you into the sales office to trap you, they have to work to get the numbers down.

I'm looking to buy a 2009 370z Touring. I've been doing research online and talking to some dealers to try to get quotes.

I found a PG Touring w/ 6M at a local dealer with the following options:

370z Touring Manual - 31919
Aero Package - 498
Illuminated Kick Plate - 148
Painted Splash Gards - 165
Carpeted Floor Mats - 89
Carpeted Trunk Mat - 65

Total Invoice: 32884

They are asking:

Base - 32161
Destination - 720
Sub-Total: 32881
Dealer Fee - 599

Total: 33480

TTL brings the cost to around 35,500. I offered 32900 pre-TTL (basically no Dealer Fee) but they keep insisting that they MUST charge the dealer fee and all other dealers will charge the same fee no matter where I go. I know that's not the case and I confronted them about it. They won't budge with the dealer fee. Is there anything I can do? Is my asking price too low? I would go to another dealer but I can't find any in my state with the same specs. This dealer is a big high volume dealer.

Any help is appreciated.
So I've waited a few months since I talked with that dealer last and they still have the car in stock. I just got off the phone with them about the same car and the offer is now 34,500 OTD (tax and everything included). Comes out to be about $1000 below invoice. Sounds like a really good deal and I'm ready to pull the trigger but I just wanted to also get confirmation from other people to make sure it's a good deal.

In this case, about 3 and half months of waiting dropped the price about $800.

Now to wait on the check from PenFed or make sure Nissan can give me at least 3.99% or lower and I'm all set!

you should be able to get the car for much less than that. in the Bay Area, CA (land of no deals ever) they are $5k off MSRP.

all their 370z's were $5k off up until last week. I think they only have a few left. it seems like they changed the deal to $3500 off with 0% now. I would give Rod a call. he's the internet manager and is who I worked with (contact info on their site).
