Hello, I'm ready to buy the new 370z. I'm in Baltimore. I'm looking for a PW(bace/sport package/6m). after reading a lot of valuable information on how to get the prices

Question need advice

Hello,

I'm ready to buy the new 370z. I'm in Baltimore. I'm looking for a PW(bace/sport package/6m).

after reading a lot of valuable information on how to get the prices right (thanks for this forum). So let me show u my home work.

Base Model 6 speed manual Invoice $28,043
Sports package Invoice $2,602

Total = $30,645

i think sale tax in MD is %6 so that will be 30,645 + 1838 = $32,483
tags= $217
paper work= $100

Total = $32,800

So what do you guys think? is this the prices i should ask for, when i find the car?

That is a great price. If u can get it take it. I purchased mine in MD and paid $32,000 b4 taxes and tags.

That is a steal. You're probably forgetting to add in destination charge.

BTW, not to sound like a bubble burster, but I can't stand similar threads like these. I'll explain. When you and so many other potential 370 buyers ask ?'s like, "is this a good deal....?" There are gonna be so many responses. But you get a lot of people saying things like, "you could shave off more..." or "try this, you might be able to cut some more off..." etc.

So many different people are going to plant in your head w/ all sorts of different seeds. And you know what? This is going to lead you to think, that even at invoice, there's more room to negotiate. Sure, there's VPP, but it's limited to a certain # of people, not everyone will gain this benefit.

Nissan doesn't build 370Z's at $0.60 on the dollar, but some people seem to point in this direction. In other words, a $35,000 MSRP doesn't mean Nissan's cost of this car is $21,000 and there is like $14,000 to play with. But people seem to have this sort of selective reasoning.

Bottom line, if you can get the car at invoice or a few hundred to several hundred dollars above invoice, then you're getting a good deal.

Paying invoice is always easier said than done. Its going to take some haggling on your part to merely get them to accept invoice pricing in the first place. It may take some getting up and leaving the facility and making them chase you. And it also may take simply telling them, "call me when you're ready to play ball".

On that note, if you want to get in and get out fairly quickly, simply tell them this: "I want the car for $500 above invoice + tax + tags". That way, you are throwing them a small bone in good faith, so you can save some time/hassle and get out of there with your car ASAP. You are NOT required to pay a documentation fee, but I can say at Tischer, it was $100, which is far more reasonable than $200+ and easier to stomach if they were being difficult to haggle.

The way I see it:
The dealers do their best to rip us off. If they could sell us a car for MSRP, with tint fee's, window etching for $399.00, "coat sealant", $299.00 for a "door guard" (piece of tape on the doors - not kidding), Desert package (DPP) which is basically a car wash every 6 months, etc etc etc

and not feel bad about riping us off...then guess what, I feel good about ripping the dealership off. I hate it when people say "The dealer needs to make money, dont haggle below invoice, it isnt right". They will rape you blind if you let them, so guess what Im going to try to return the favor.

there is only a few dealers worth the money and its guys like Lou, but they are a very rare find.

thank you guys for your input (again valuable info).

edeeZee , ya i totally forgot the transportation fee thanks. So 32,800 + 720 = $33,520

there is the good, and the bad dealers out there. most of them are the bad ones. they ruin the reputation of the salesman. and we have our self's here to help put a member in a car with out getting riptoff.

I really just want to get a number that I can work with when i find the car.

any Maryland, VA, or DC dealers you guys had a good experience with?

Tischer was fine for me to deal with.

On the other hand, I also purchased the most infamous car on the board (VIN JN1AZ44E09M402164 beware) from them. But, they never lied about anything (so far as I know), and they were easy to haggle. They also had a decent selection at the time, but then again, almost all the other Nissan's around here had at least a few on hand. They also said that if I felt remotely bad about purchasing that car due to the rumors, they would have ordered me a new one - something I didn't even ask about.

Check this out, I was a car salesman for 3 years and I know what goes on as an insider. Yes, you guys are correct when you mentioned they try to sell you "BS packages" i.e. "desert" for car washes, etc. Yeah, it's a crock of sh&t I agree. But when customers grind and try to steal the car at invoice, these "desert packages" are another way to try to make up for the void from MSRP to invoice.

Some people talk about "holdback." This is what "holdback" essentially means, I believe Nissan corp for the 370 is around $1,000: "thank you Nissan of ABC-land for selling our 370's, this $1,000 is in case you lost the profit from MSRP to invoice or perhaps didn't, and it's to cover your overhead for that dealership." Holdback is essentially a "flat salary" for car dealerships. A new car dealer does not own all the new cars on the lot, it's rare that a dealership will. They pay something called "flooring" and this is essentially a fee they pay the banks that own the new cars outright. Anways, a dealership pays out its nose to keep the doors open. A typical dealership in S. California pays around $500,000 per month to keep its doors open, yes 1/2 million $ PER MONTH. You see how expensive it is?

I agree that they're gonna try to rip you off. But you got to play the game if you want to grind at invoice. I'm not saying to give in and let them rip you off. Mightybobo is correct, it's a lot easier said than done when you scream "invoice, invoice, invoice!" They got so many tricks up the sleeve to get around this e.g. "what payment do you want, it's not the price cause you're not paying cash?...." And if you offer cash and try to grind, they'll BS you and tell you that this low price can only be had in conjunction with the dealership's financing entities....blah blah blah.

I should offer my services to people for a fee, and I can guarantee that I can grind and get the "invoice target" without playing their games.

I bought mine from Tischer as well, and they were fine. It was the third car i have bought from them. Sheehy Nissan in Glen Burnie is always nice, but you really have to haggle. They put a marked down price on the window and hope people will just take it and not haggle. The only dealer i would stay away from is Norris Nissan in Ellicott City. I was working with them for a couple days. We finally reached an agreement over the phone. I came in and signed all of the preliminary paperwork and while I was waiting to finish up the financing they came and told me they had to knock $2500 off my trade.

The tough thing for you is going to be finding the car you want. There just aren't that many base with sport packages around.

I just got off the phone with mike from Tischer. so far no bace/sport/6m in the whole north east side of the country! he said he found a couple of bace models, but not the one I'm looking for. he's going to look nation wide, or he mite locate one on the port.

I'm going with this particular model just for the SynchroRev option. most of the other stuff will go down the road. i mite keep the wing and the chin. If i can install this option on a bace model with a decent pries (witch i doubt). I mite end up paying more or little less then the sport package.

We have a bunch here! Fly out here and drive it back home and have it fully broken in by the time you get home. For the prices we are selling them for...many are doing just that!!!

Like the OP, I am in the Balto area and close to buying a 370Z as well.

As of early July, Antwerpen Nissan in Clarksville had a Pearl White one, I don't recall if it had the sport package or was the base model.

Norris Nissan West in Ellicott City (Rte 40) had a Pearl White come in early in July, it had the Navigation package and I think was fully loaded.

I drove past Tischer and stopped in to see thier inventory the other day, they had a few white ones as well.

Hope this helps.

When I was up at Carmax looking at the 370z's and getting my car appriased, I recall the dealer mentioning that the last day to order an '09 model was in early July, I want to say it was the 8th or 9th.

I'm having the same dilemma finding a PG or CY Touring/6mt/Sports. If I can convince myself to settle for my second or third choice in color, I might buy one very soon.
